  1. Really? Gamecast tells me bases are loaded. One of you two is lying.
  2. Gamecast tells me Citifield just took one away from Ryan Church.
  3. The streaker slides better than KC.
  4. FSister is hot.
  5. In their defense, the camera didn't exactly love Mickey Morandini.
  6. This article implies that the Mets are botching this situation: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/12/sports/baseball/12metnotes.html?_r=2&partner=rss&emc=rss It certainly sounds like Delgado wants to take some time and let it heal. Most troubling is the part about the cortisone shot missing the intended area.
  7. Delgado scratched. According to Metsblog, he's out until Friday at the earliest, and may go on the DL. This a result of his hip which continues to bother him. Troublesome.
  8. I have no problem with using him there. This is the Phils after all. Give him tonight, and maybe even tomorrow off.
  9. ="metsguyinmichigan":32cwmem1]Topps had an amazing run from 1971 to 1974. I love it when you guys create modern versions of those cards for the player of the month threads.[/quote:32cwmem1] I'm convinced that this phenomenon is a direct result of the age you are when these cards come out. I have an illogical love for Topps cards years 84-86. G-Fafif May 08 2009 09:01 AM Rose came over in '79 and they went into the toilet (not to be confused with the septic tank where the Mets were then). Funny how Pete kept that winning formula under wraps for a year.
  10. We get on him when he's bad, so to be fair, we should mention it when he does something we like. I LOVE that Manuel got tossed last night after the Victorino con job. That ump is an idiot, and coupled with the blown DP call from before, absolutely deserved the mouthful Jerry gave him. I hope the ump watched both replays afterwards and felt like an asshole.
  11. Plans for the Manny Ramirez Rotunda at Citifield:
  12. On re-read, looks like Edgy already said what I said. I just want to make it clear to Mr. McCourt (and Mr. Wilpon and every other owner) that I am willing to follow around Manny (or some other superstar) and make sure everything he takes isn't on the list. Call within the next twenty minutes (because you know I can't do this all day) and I'll do it for a just a few million a year.
  13. Yup. The Dodgers too. How do you spend that amount of money and not monitor all mediations he is taking? After JC Romero, no club has any excuse.
  14. What a great game. Between the Phillies propensity for comebacks, and Rodriguez's propensity for baserunners, I couldn't bear to watch the ninth inning. Instead, I watched the Celtics-Orlando game and kept flipping back to see the outs tick up on the scroll. Great job all around last night. Santana is really, really good.
  15. In keeping with the theme of this thread, Mama Chamberlain, drug dealer: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5golx02tibjOvGN9NwcBU1wA41S1wD97VUGC00
  16. When I was playing, my problem was letting pitches get too deep before swinging. Like the catcher's glove kind of deep.
  17. In case there's any confusion about my point, let me clarify: 1. Alex Cora sucks (career OPS of .662). 2. Guys who suck should hit lower in the batting order, not second. 3. If Manuel batted him second because he knew it was a short-term lineup change, and because he had a hunch about him, so be it. If Manuel batted him second because he's a "guy who knows how to handle the bat making him ideal for the #2 hole", then that's dumb. 4. We've had an idiot manager who subscribed to the latter theory so I'd like not to deal with that again. (BTW, Miguel Cairo's career OPS is .670)
  18. Good time for Santos to pick up his first walk.
  19. But that's exactly what you wrote. You seem to disregard any possibility that: 1. Starting pitchers can tire. Even suddenly, and that a manager has to make a call on pulling that starter before they give up the lead in a tight game. 2. Overtaxing your starters can (as you point out with relievers) have negative effects later in the year. No general rule can apply to pulling a starter and going to the pen. It's a balancing act, and in most cases, there is no clear cut answer that is the better way.
  20. Edgy DC wrote: Fuckin' A, people. How can we support this strategy? At all!? The Santana comment was meant to address your "keep the bullpen fresh for September" aspect you brought up yesterday. I will support putting in Putz in the 8th inning of a one-run game when Santana has tossed 109 pitches. Even after today. It sucks that we're losing, but it's not because of bad strategy.
  21. Unless he starts off with a leadoff walk.
