  1. Todd Frazier is an ok hitter. But he has the ugliest swing I’ve ever seen on a major leagues. Holy crap he looks bad.
  2. What is the standard for activating someone from the DL? If the standard is being physically able to play the game, Wright is there. He may not be an everyday player, but he can physically play baseball. If the standard is being a ML quality player, then he’s not there. And Reyes and Vargas and a few other Mets should probably not be active.

  4. I was legitimately disappointed he finished with only 2 hits last night. Jeff and Nimmo. Making life bearable.

  6. A Boy Named Seo wrote: He’s reminding me of Zobrist big time. Yes! That's exactly right. His stance is even similar. So, before the season I predicted exactly this. Except that instead of Jeff McNeil (who I had never heard of) I predicted that this would be Gavin Cecchini. That obviously didn't happen since Gavin was apparently abducted by aliens in May. Fortunately, they aliens were kind enough to allow Gavin to transfer his abilities to some 26 year old journeyman before whisking him away to probe him. So, in a way, I was right.
  7. When I saw this reply I was hoping to hear that the Marlins had won this game. Annoying. I still their 22 game losing streak in September will drop them out of the playoffs completely.
  8. McNeil and Conforto going opposite field. So happy I can cry.
  9. Meet George Frazier.
  10. I think that's what Edgy was going for with the thread title. But he mixed up his heavyweights.
  11. Yes. I agree with that. With three infielders (hopefully) set for next year, that only leaves 3B to get a stud player. And with two OF slots accounted for, that leaves only one OF'er to improve. Now, from what I hear, there is a pretty good 3B available, and a pretty good OF'er in this next year's FA market. The only problem is that we have Frazier, Bruce and Vargas all on the books for next season. Oh, and shit owners.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Well, it wasn't about experience, so much as it was about Holland throwing withe his left hand. Recall that Conforto and McNeil were out of the lineup also. This just drives me crazy. Let's see what McNeil can do against lefties. Let's see what Smith can do against lefties. Let's let Conforto get MLB AB's against lefties and try to improve.
  13. I'm hopeful about McNeil. I like the approach at the plate. Good contact, good OBP. I worry that his power may not translate. He's hit a few balls that I though had a chance only to see them die short of the warning track. But I'm hopeful he can start clearing fences. I am definitely down with giving him every start at 2B (lefty or not) for the remainder of 2018. Would be a nice silver lining if we can come out of 2018 confident that Nimmo, McNeil and Alonso can be a nice part of the base along with Conforto.
  14. I know I sound like a broken record here, but why on earth are we not starting Dom Smith? If you want Flores to get AB's, start him at 2B. Or start Smith in LF. There is absolutely no reason to play these filler guys over Smith.
  15. It might be a little late to save the season for the SHaMs. But maybe the fourth quarter? FoQuaMs?
  16. I need a pic of this T-Shirt.
  17. .660 OPS in July. .490 in August. Nimmo: (storms into locker room) Where CF at. Where he at?!?!? OMG!!! CF: You're a real man Brandon. A real man!
  18. Since this thread Nimmo bumped his OPS by 30 points. OPS for August up to .918! But he still sucks! Sucks I tell ya!
  19. So Dom smith had 3 hits last night and is starting to pick things up a little. Still hitting for no power, but at least some hits are starting to fall. It's really curious that the Mets are not using this time to see what they have in Smith. I understand his play doesn't necessarily warrant a call up, but at some point you have to just give him regular AB's and see what he can do. It's not like there are any mysteries about Flores. Maybe the Mets have given up on him and think it's better that he inflate his numbers at AAA and trade him this winter. I don't know.

  21. I doubt they get this one in. Which is a shame because I'd like to see the MFY's have to face deGrom. In fact, if we could, I'd love to loan deGrom out to whoever is facing the Yankees for the rest of the season.
  22. For it to be an issue, David would have to be able to play regularly, and the Mets would have to be good enough for it to matter. Certainly both things are possible, but neither of them are particularly likely.
  23. Another HR yesterday. Up to 29 for the year. After slumping badly upon his callup, now has his OPS up to .931 in LV.
  24. I guess in real life, family considerations and stuff like that come into play. But in my imaginary world where I am talented enough to play MLB and have no family, no way I quit early. I play out every last day of my contract. Then I catch on with any club that will have me until the phone stops ringing. And then I catch on with the Newark Bears or Long Island Ducks until some team decides they need my bat down the stretch. I make training videos of my swing, offer testimonials from other players talking about how much I still have in the tank. I post shirtless videos of me wielding a hammer and flipping over tractor tires. I play semi-pro ball, then fast pitch softball, then eventually beer league softball where I sit around telling the guys what it's like in the show. I'd room with Ichiro when we are on the road. When I'm inducted into the Hall of Fame, I borrow a page from Rickey Henderson and use that as a platform to remind everyone that I am still available.
