  3. I agree. I also voted for MIDNIGHT BADNESS which, by the way, is the only Michael Conforto cover that's still standing in this year's TCD. It's not quite as flattering to Michael as this one is, which made it all the way to the finals in 2015: It feels like A-Rod has been out of the game for a long time. But then I look at that 2015 cover and see he was still productive then. I guess 2015 was a long time ago.
  4. I really don't like either of these. I generally like real photos better than any photoshop or cartoon. But I really don't see any value to that dugout shot. It almost looks like someone took that picture by accident.
  5. Latest buzz seems to be that A.J. Pollack will be their last play. I would think this would take them above the payroll mark the past few years. If you sign Pollack to a long term deal, what do you do when Cespedes eventually comes back? Whether it’s this year or next?

Signed originally by Minnesota out of Venezuela, the then-2nd place Twins dealt Ramos, then stuck behind Joe Mauer, to the Nats for reliever Matt Capps at the 2010 July 31st deadline. The Twinkies wound up winning their division that year with Capps saving 16 games over the final two month but then -- repeat after me folks -- lost to the Yanx in three straight in the opening round. Capps next two seasons weren't nearly as successful and he pitched his last ML game at the age of 28 in 2012 and by 2013 Mauer was no longer capable of catching. Not sure who you might be thinking of. That almost makes it seem like one shouldn’t trade top prospects for relief pitchers.
  7. And to clarify, I think Miami can do better than Gimenez and Kay. But that’s who I would have been comfortable giving away. Miami has no use for JT. They need to move him.
  8. So happy to put this thread to bed. I get that JT is talented and is just entering his prime. And I believe he will be better than Ramos over these next two years. But he won’t be better than Ramos and any two of Nimmo/Conforto/Rosario. Gimenez or Kay, I can see building a package around them. I don’t know who else is left in play pursuing Miami, but I wonder if the criticism of giving away too much last year caused Jeter to overplay his hand here.
  9. I am. If I judge him by his actions and not the rumors, he’s only made one bad move. If I judge him by the rumors he’s a moron. Clearly it’s unfair to do the latter. No one had Ramos on their radar. Familia either. I wonder how much validity any of these rumors have.
  10. I like this move. I get that Realmuto and Grandal are better, but the price is too high on JT, and Grandal wanted four years. Totally ok with this. And we still have Syndergaard, who we can use to trade for a LOOGY.
  11. Petersen is out? I boycott the rest of this TCD. Clear gerrymandering going on here.
  12. I’m over Blevins. I read Tony Sipp May be an option. Never heard of him before. Was good with Houston last year but wildly inconsistent over the years. Seems like he has good years and awful years.
  13. What’s the point? Doesn’t hit .300. Doesn’t walk. Now only has middling power while playing in a bandbox. Old. Bad fielder. Pass.
  14. Andy Martino says Mets are getting more serious about Grandal. Let’s hope so and all this talk of trading the heart of our team is put to bed. I think I would go Ramos instead. But anything beats trading Noah.
  15. We wouldn't give up Dom Smith and Nimmo. Still wouldn't. Trading Syndergaard is INSANE.
  16. Conflicting opinions in my office. PR co-worker: Yoo-lees. Guatemalan Co-Worker: Heh-lees.
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: They mentioned him on Mets Hot Stove last night and everyone started chuckling. Did they? I wish they would laugh at the idea of trading Syndergaard for a catcher.
  18. It's kinda surprising to me how hard it's been to get lefties into this pen. Wasn't long ago I feel like LOOGYs were a dime a dozen. Why is it so hard to find a funky sidearming left-hander that can come in to face FFF? And I don't remember these guys being particularly expensive. Dennis Cook. Chuck McElroy. 50 year old Jesse. I came across this one guy from the Indians who I think would be great. 1.39 ERA. 0.74 WHIP. .490 OPS Against for LHB Oliver Perez? Any of you guys ever hear of him?
  19. The problem with Vargas is that he's not particularly good at getting out lefties (insert joke that he's not great against righties either). Last year, he was slightly more effective against lefties (.725 OPS against, versus .847 for righties). But his three year split (2016-18) is the opposite. .811 OPS against for lefties, .766 OPS against for righties. So he wouldn't really make a good LOOGY.
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Kristie Ackert reporting that it was the Marlins who "aggressively shot down the idea of a three-team deal that would bring All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto to Flushing and send Noah Syndergaard to the Bronx." If true, I'd interpret this to mean that Miami didn't like the package that the Yankees would have sent to Miami, and now they're looking to the Padres to come up with a package that the Marlins would like. This is alarming. Not just because I hate the idea of moving Syndergaard, but what it says about the judgment of Brodie in general. I think he was badly fleeced in the Cano-Diaz trade. I think any trade involving Syndergaard for Realmuto would be an unmitigated disaster. I wish the press would stop enabling this guy and calling him bold and courageous and all that other garbage.
  21. G-Fafif wrote: Martino's persona emits the inverse of "one can disagree without being disagreeable." Even if you robustly agree with what he's said or written, you still can't watching him or reading him. Dead on.
  22. I love the visual of a fired up Greg, elbowing his way to the front.
  23. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Why the hell is BVW so compelled to (A) bring in Realmuto over all other available catcher options and ( trade Noah Fucking Syndergaard? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  24. Especially since we have no free agent starters available anymore. Someone else mentioned in another thread that I would guess that our window to trade Noah has closed.
