  1. I'm actually coming from Orange County. So I have an hour's plus drive on top of whatever public transportation I take. I would prefer not to drive into Manhattan. I thought about parking near Northern Blvd in Forest Hills. It would be two short subway rides from there, but at least I'm somewhat familiar with that area.
  2. Are they still doing the Fan Fest for Kids before weekend games? I thought maybe not because of the construction. And I can't find any confirmation of it on the Mets official site. I got tickets for two Friday night games and if the Fan Fest is there, I'll need to arrive early. Incidentally, how has parking/traffic really been this year? I'll have two small kids and an impatient wife with me...should I go right for the Shea lot, or look for parking somewhere along the #7 line and hop the train. If that's the case, can someone suggest a good (safe) stop on the #7 line?
  3. Okay, Dennis. You've got to pose for this baseball card photo. First, though, put on this hat that doesn't fit, and this glove that also doesn't fit. Good, now for your pose. I got it, pretend you are Shaggy from Scooby Doo and you've just seen a ghost. Perfect!
  4. Let her guide the conversation. If she asks about why Jose Reyes wears his sunglasses above his cap brim, answer. Don't try to be overwhelming and offer too much information. You want to have stuff to say on your second trip to Shea. Don't do the little league or game-on-TV thing. If she decides from that that she doesnt like baseball, then its no Sheadate for you. On a related note, one of my best friends had his first date with a non-Mets fan at a game at Shea. They're now going on 7 years married.
  5. That was a guess. I knew Todd wore a lot of different uniforms. Who is the third player beside Zeile and Lofton to hit homers for 10 teams?
  6. Todd Zeile?
  7. Had Rolen's ball been hit about five feet to the left, Willie leaves him out there. Chicks dig the No Hitter.
  8. Looks like him. Can I assume this was pre-9/11? If not, the video of the aircraft flying near the World Trade Center is in incredibly poor taste.
  9. This may have been discussed ad nauseum last year, but why not Beltran 2 and Wright 3?
  10. stupid double post
  11. I cheated and found out who it was. Never would have guessed it in a hundred years.
  12. I knew Mookie was a stepfather, but he's Preston's uncle as well?
  13. These Phillies are awfully chatty, aren't they?
  14. He should honor his good buddy Cliff by playing the Sanford and Son theme every time he comes to the plate. Now that is one thing I'll sorely miss with Cornelius gone.
  15. I seem to remember both of these guys being over-hyped before being dealt: - David West - Stanley Jefferson
  16. I got an email about the 7-pack. Does anyone know if/when single game tickets go on sale? I went to the web site, and was slightly confused. It looked like some games had tickets for sale and others not.

    Pete II

He looks closer to 30 than 19. Somebody check both their birth certificates.
  18. Rick Helling is only 36? Feels like he should be around 47.
  19. I agree with Edgy about Trammell and Whitaker. I long thought that if given the chance to start a team, I would have taken Trammell over Ripken or Ozzie. And the Whitaker/Sandberg thing is interesting. They were close enough as players that it doesn't make sense that one gets in to the Hall relatively easily while another is eliminated in one vote.
  20. Of the guys I've heard of on that list, which disqualifies Dahlen and Johnson, Santo is the one I'm most surprised was eliminated in the first year. Especially considering the groundswell of support there seems to be for him now.
  21. Pulsipher and Pete Harnisch provide a potent 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation.
  22. Who's choking Dale in that pic?
  23. Kid's Kid Kimmy, blocking the plate for FSU.
  24. ^^^^ A senior guard averaging 15.1 points for your Maryland Terrapins.
  25. On the female side we have Lorna Luft.
