  1. 4 Scott Erickson? 5 Harry Steinfeldt? 8 Ed Kranepool?
  2. One thing I'll miss, and until I see the new stadium I won't know how they'll handle it, is the out of town scoreboard. All the scores, right there. NL on the right, AL on the left, with the little red light telling you who was batting.
  3. On the bright side, 64 pitches, plus 17 more in the pen following the game...and no pain. 5 Ks in 3 innings. 44 out of 64 strikes.
  4. I'll guess two of my favorite Met prospect names: Roy Lee Jackson Jackson Todd And for kicks, how about the Flushing flash himself, Ed Glynn
  5. My optimism fades with every lackluster performance, and the growing realization that the moxy of 2006 is long gone, but then the Phillies go in the tank and lose 4 out of 5, giving me renewed hope. I worry that if the Mets ever get passed in first place that the team doing the passing will not look back. One small point from the game and I had no internet access at the time to voice it: On Andruw's bloop single before Francoeur's HR, can I get a little more effort from Castillo chasing the ball? Would he have caught it?Probably no. But he looked way too lackadaisacal going after it.
  6. Are we obligated to say he helped his own cause even if he's not the winning pitcher?
  7. 8-8. Un-fing-believable.
  8. And Jon Garland is doing his best to get the Yanks back in this. Four runs with no one out in the bottom of the second, including a 3-run bomb by Wilson Betemit.
  9. Jim Palmer?
  10. Heilman had given up a bunt hit and a bloop. I would have kept him in. If you go to Feliciano with a short bullpen there, I think you have to keep him in the game even when he hits Fielder. He can't be only a one-out guy. I have zero confidence in Mota at this point.
  11. Yes, in Cedeno's case.
  12. Is Cordero really only 25 years old?
  13. Can Betemit play first base? Cuz otherwise I don't see where he fits.
  14. Edgy Gets It!
  15. Cangelosi Yes! And the other player departed in a major deal.
  16. Not Jorgy.
  17. So, to recap: One player: - involved in major trade - Kevin McReynolds? No, but getting warmer. - played many positions, one quite poorly Other player: - Less than 100 games as a Met - Hit John Smoltz harder than any other Met
  18. No, but like Mitch, he played many defensive positions. One of which he played quite poorly.
  19. No to Flynn & KMac, but as they say in the vernacular, Edgy's getting warmer.
  20. Nady? No-dy.
  21. Nyet to Lenny and Paulie. One of these guys hit John Smoltz harder than any other Met.
  22. 1. Dykstra 1. Backman 2. 3. 4. Cedeno 5. Hunt Still looking for the Met involved in a big trade, and the Met who played less than 100 games.
  23. ]Quote: One was involved in a huge trade. Hubie Brooks? Quote: One played less than 100 games in a Met uniform. Larry Bowa? Quote: One had two tours of duty with the Mets, and played in the postseason with them. Lee Mazzilli? Nope to all three. ]Last Met You'd Associate With Scrappiness, Dumb Enough Decision To Turn Off The TV In Disgust Wondering Who Gets Paid To Write This Crap Well said.
  24. No to Mookie. No to Harrelson. Also, no to Wiggy, Pratt, and Agbayani, although one was a teammate to all three.
  25. Of the three remaining: One was involved in a huge trade. One played less than 100 games in a Met uniform. One had two tours of duty with the Mets, and played in the postseason with them. The last two, to me, were surprising to make the list.
