Of course we're teased by Lidge walking the bases loaded only to have Blanco strike out to end it. It is striking how similar this year is to last year.

Prince's second HR of the night makes it 4-3 Cubs in the 8th.

Chipper, McCann, and Infante in the 9th for the Braves against Lidge I would assume.

Solo HR for Soriano in the 7th makes it 4-2 Cubbies over the Brewers. So we may mathematically still be in the playoffs after tonight.

8-7 now in the 8th on a Howard home run. The Phils always come back.

Perez pitched well tonight. I do think Delgado is going back to some of his early season habits. Some poor at bats. Other than the Wright and Beltran balls, not too many balls hit too hard. Reyes seems to be struggling too. And we know that when he is clicking, so is the rest of the offense.

That hit and run is pissing me off more and more now that the game is final. Castro on a bad ankle could have gotten to third there. Why the hell is he stopping or looking? That was a textbook hit and run single by Cancel and it was wasted. Yeah, I know Reyes had an infield bouncer next that wouldn't have scored him anyway, but the pitching approach probably changes with a runner on third.

Back in the 80s, John Travolta was in the booth promoting his new movie. Ralph made a comment like, "you're in a movie with Jamie Lee Curtis and I once dated her mother." So for a while I would watch Met games with a photo of Janet Leigh on the TV. Somehow I thought this would bring the Mets luck. I might have to print one out and place it on the TV tonight.
