  1. LOL! Kase, from one old dick to another, you're doing it very well. Keep up the good work. Later
  2. WFAN is reporting an "exclusive" (I didn't catch the name of the reporter) That Pete has agreed to accept a three year contract with the Mets, finances not disclosed/ still being worked out. The lack of more details makes me suspicious, but ... Later
  3. I'd vote for Michelle Phillips over every karate guy. Later
  4. Lock them in a warm, humid room for a week and play a continuous loop of ESPN announcers doing a baseball game. That would be sufficient punishment. Later
  5. Good insurance long term should Diaz leave in his option year. And until then, a dynamic bullpen duo. I'm all in on this one. Later
  6. The longer this goes on, Pete's image of a lovable polar bear is going to get tarnished. Later
  7. Benjamin Grimm wrote: and if not him, we'll wait even longer to see what we think, in retrospect, of Lindor and Nimmo and Alonso. I realize that if he finishes up his contract with the Mets he will have spent 14 years here. But it will take a lot of retrospection for me to think that Nimmo deserves number retirement. .260 hitters don't usually get that honor unless you're a MLB Hall of Famer like Ozzie Smith. Brandon will have to tack on some serious numbers for the rest of his contract to earn that. Later
  8. After the 1960 World Series, in which the MFYs set all kinds of WS hitting records, but the Pirates won the Series, he said. "Good pitching stops good hitting. And Vice Versa". (Veale was a minor leaguer and didn't get into the Series.) He was a 6'6" lefty who wore thick glasses and must have scared the crap out of lefty hitters. RIP Later
  9. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=182485 time=1736296102 user_id=119] Justin Verlander heads to the Giants, per Heyman.
  10. Edgy MD wrote: but isn't Francesa billed as "The Sports Pope or something? Somebody is claiming an authority for the guy. I think he was called that sarcastically by another sports writer (maybe the guy who writes about sports media for the NY Post- Phil Mushnick?) and it stuck. Later
  11. Good point. Later
  12. Every team trades with the thought that what they got back is better than what they gave up. They have to think they did. Later
  13. I know. But it just irritated my sense of fairness when I read about it- the rich get richer. Later
  14. I understand what they're for, and why. The Mets even took advantage of a competitive balance draft (although it wasn't called that) when they got Jack Fisher because the league had rachmunus on them. And Cincy must believe that the player they got will be better than anyone they might draft. But I don't think its is right to be able to trade those picks to a plus .500 team. (Maybe I'm just pissed because LA got it.) Later
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: A move which allows the Dodgers to then deal IF, and one-time top prospect, Gavin Lux to the Reds for a competitive balance draft pick and an OF prospect. They have to re-think the rules about competitive balance picks. LA won the fucking world series. What more "competitive balance" do they need? If you're going to have them in the first place (isn't that what the drafts are for?) there has to be a limit on how they're used (e.g.- you can only trade them to a sub-.500 team). Later
  16. An old expression. I said I was too old for this ****. ^ Later
  17. I dunno. He strikes me as the child who is being offered candy. He wants it, but won't take it to spite his parents. What is a better word for that? Later
  18. To quote the sergeant in Stripes, "I'm getting too old for this ****". Piss, or get off the pot, Pete. Now you're just being obstinate. Later
  19. Los Angeles (N) has agreed to terms with utility player Hyeseong Kim on a three-year contract for $12.5 million with a two-year club option for 2028 and 2029. The 25-year-old Kim, who has played the past six seasons with the KBO's Kiwoom Heroes, was the first player from South Korea and Japan to be posted this offseason and has been training in Los Angeles for the past month. https://sports.yahoo.com/dodgers-hyeseong-kim-agree-to-3-year-deal-with-125-million-guaranteed-200807566.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/dodgers-hyeseong-kim-agree-to-3-year-deal-with-125-million-guaranteed-200807566.html Later
  20. Trevor Williams signs with the Nats 2 years, $14 million. Later
  21. Just noticed he's #4 on the BP list; https://metsmerizedonline.com/baseball-prospectus-reveals-2025-mets-top-prospects/https://metsmerizedonline.com/baseball-prospectus-reveals-2025-mets-top-prospects/ Later
  22. While he doesn't have elite range, he certainly has the stretch thing down right. He saved a lot of errors on bad throws last year. Later
  23. The Wisconsin pavilion at the New York world's Fair (1964-65) proudly displayed the World's Largest Cheese. And a Tad's steak House. We can guess what happened to the cattle that couldn't produce enough milk. Later
  24. I realize it is an independent league, but are you sure they spell "Asszociation" that way? Later
  25. Nolan's rocketing up the prospect charts, making some Mets top 25 lists. Who needs Ohtani? We'll soon have McLean. Later
