  2. =G-Fafif post_id=180817 time=1733937433 user_id=55] At least it wasn't Sterling.
  3. If they're going to invest $25 million/yr for a third baseman, I'd prefer they spend a few more bucks (hey, it's only money) and go hard for the younger, better, Bregmann. Later
  4. The teenage girls used to scream for him like he was a rock star. RIP Later
  5. Nathan Evoidi re-signs with Texas. no details. Later
  6. Well respected. Good choice. Later
  7. Jeff Passan is reporting that Toronto is finalizing a deal to acquire ex-Met infielder Andres Giminez from Cleveland. Later
  8. That's what I originally thought. But this site had it listed for today. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146595-mlb-rule-5-draft-2024-date-start-time-format-and-top-prospectshttps://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146595-mlb-rule-5-draft-2024-date-start-time-format-and-top-prospects Silly me, believing everything I read on the internet. Thanks. Later
  9. was supposed to have started today at 2PM EST but I haven't seen any news yet. If you have a link to the draft results, please post it. Later
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The Mets of the 1980s seemed to be pretty good at that, with the notable exception of Kevin Mitchell. As I recall, in most cases the prospects they kept ended up being better than the ones they traded. I credit that to the minor league organization (based on his his Baltimore model) the Frank Cashen built. Later
  11. So, the ARE buying teams. I'm not sure if I like that or not. Minor leaguers are covered under the CBA, But if they strike, are they striking against MLB/ owners or this company? Lotsa' unknown territory here. Later
  12. They aren't buying teams, they're buying venues. A definite cost saving move for the major league teams - consolidating some administrative functions while maintaining the control of the baseball stuff. But i hope the centralization of the ticketing doesn't become a fiasco like Ticketmaster. Later
  13. The least complicated remedy seems to be - trade Baty.(which seems a likely possibility anyhow) Oh, and fuck the owners. Later
  14. Here's what Baseball Prospectus has to say about some of the prospects mentioned in this thread: https://metsmerizedonline.com/baseball-prospectus-reveals-2025-mets-top-prospects/https://metsmerizedonline.com/baseball-prospectus-reveals-2025-mets-top-prospects/ Later
  15. When I first saw the trade proposal, it also involved the Mets getting the Soz' centerfielder Luis Robert Jr. (with the Mets throwing in an outfield prospect) THAT I would do. He fills the bill for an every day centerfielder with a medium BA and good power. (I'm thinking Tommie Agee.) He had a down year last year , but was an All-Star two years ago when he hit 38 HR. For a bunch of players who might not even make the team? Worth investigating. Later
  16. =MFS62 post_id=180665 time=1733838266 user_id=60] I've seen two articles* on Mets websites about the lineup now that they signed Soto. Both have Nimmo batting cleanup. Me no likey. They need someone with more accent on the S in OPS in that spot. Later * = metsmerized online and Amazin' avenue.com
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Someone who's good at percentage? I don't expect that Nimmo will be the cleanup hitter when Mendoza makes out the lineups. BIG OOPS! Fixed. Thanks. Later

  19. His production needs to be replaced. But I'm not sure if I would spend the money all in one place or add a platoon DH like Joc Pederson and another first baseman (Walker?) and then go for pitching. The numbers 4-9 on the pitching staff (starters and relievers) leave me between uneasy and queasy. Later
  20. ABC-TV at 6 PM Weather Report, " It isn't raining in the Bronx. That is the tears of Y--kee fans". Later
  21. The Mets signed promising Japanese right handed reliever Yusi Sako to as minor league deal. https://fanrecap.com/mets-make-unexpected-move-after-soto-blockbuster/?utm_source=new-york-mets&utm_medium=SS&utm_campaign=mlb-mk&utm_content=1570980989853817&fbclid=IwY2xjawHEZDNleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHfFS-aSVel4xm-qS495FNOKaFvZxhIFEXw3TMvlX8VDhWfnP_UVmdrmsrg_aem_yy2JPpJUldJgm_QeseGz0ghttps://fanrecap.com/mets-make-unexpected-move-after-soto-blockbuster/?utm_source=new-york-mets&utm_medium=SS&utm_campaign=mlb-mk&utm_content=1570980989853817&fbclid=IwY2xjawHEZDNleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHfFS-aSVel4xm-qS495FNOKaFvZxhIFEXw3TMvlX8VDhWfnP_UVmdrmsrg_aem_yy2JPpJUldJgm_QeseGz0g Later
  22. It probably is. But first or schmirst, sit back and enjoy it (while composing the perfect email to your MFY -loving friends and family). Later
  23. Spread the money around A first baseman to replace Pete (Walker may take a short tern contract) A platoon dh (Joc Pedersen?) A starter (Evoldi) A reliever - he'll find some. Later
  24. I'm guessing Soto. Not sure if outfield assists is a measure, but Soto has had 9 or 10 in the past few years while Nimmo has never had more that 4. In some cases low assists means the guy has such a cannon that nobody runs on him, but I don't see that with Brandon. Later
