  1. When I saw the thread title I thought this was Galaxy Quest - until I read the synopsis. No vote. I haven't seen it and don't think I would want to. Later
  2. Joe Schultz. Later
  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm guessing that the Mets did their due diligence and that David Stearns is also not just finding out about the surgery. Maybe we should call him, just in case? The announcement I saw said "pending a physical" so I guess they'll uncover any problem. Later
  4. Some discontent is starting to creep in. Later
  5. Nice to see Stearns isn't just fiddling while Boras burns. Later
  6. "Pete Alonso is flushed down the toilet. What a double standard." Was that intentional? American Standard is a manufacturer of bathroom fixtures. If it was, kudos. If it wasn't, I still found it funny. Later
  7. That's what I thought you meant. Thanks. Later
  8. =smg58 post_id=183158 time=1737138634 user_id=62] You have to think there's no way this deal gets made if they don't have the upper hand on getting Sasaki.
  9. Six Miller Lite commercials. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2025/01/bob-uecker-miller-lite-commercials-adshttps://ftw.usatoday.com/2025/01/bob-uecker-miller-lite-commercials-ads Later
  10. I had the pleasure of speaking with him. It was on a talk radio show over 20 years ago (Bill Maser/ Art Rust Jr.?) I told him I remembered he had been on the Braves with Lew Burdette, and asked him when he caught Lew, did he call for the spitter or did Lew let him know it was coming. What followed was about three minutes of the funniest evasion you could ever hear. RIP, Ueck. I don't think there will ever be another like you. Later
  11. Winkle back, Welk. I mean welcome back, Wink. Later
  12. I was looking for a Steve Austin Bionic Man line, but that'll do. Good one. Later

  14. Frayed Knot wrote: But I was even more afraid that it was going to be a story with photos of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and John Fetterman together in a hot tub ... so I guess I got off easy. That one would be in the non-baseball forum. (now I have to get that image out of my head. Thanks a lot) Later
  15. So, they spent $5 million on him. That leaves $1.2 million. Who else did they sign? Later
  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: This kid is extremely highly regarded. I'm eager to see how quickly he moves through the Mets system, and what position he'll settle in at. The Mets appear set at shortstop for the next seven years, but few things are set in stone. From what I read he has the body type that will continue to grow, and the report said the scouts were already talking about him moving to another position. Later
  17. Welcome. Nice avatar. Later
  18. There ain't no cure for the wintertime blues. We're just going to have to wait for good news. Later
  19. Adapted from Robert Harris’ 2016 novel, “Conclave” follows Cardinal Dean Thomas Lawrence (played by Ralph Fiennes), who is tasked with overseeing the Vatican’s search for a new pope. Four candidates soon emerge, each with their own set of secrets or scandals. People who have seen it tell me that Ralph Fiennes should win his long deserved Oscar for this one. Later
  20. Gil Hodges is a given. Willard Hunter needs more recognition. I vote for Hunter Hodges. Later
  21. I didn't say only. Later
  22. Once I read that Sasaki only wanted to meet with team executives, with NO team members present I felt they might lose him. The Mets couldn't use Senga as a representative at the meeting. So news that won't sign him doesn't come as a surprise to me. Later
  23. Have we gotten to the point where we have established a Matt Allen Award for the current organization player with the most years lost to injury? If we haven't, I nominate that guy for the first one. Later
  24. Edgy MD wrote: Came up through the minors alongside Hank Aaron. After being traded to the Red Sox, he had a thirty-homer season, more than 1/3 of his career total in a single year. He and Hank Aaron were the keystone combo at Jacksonville before they made the majors. Aaron played second, Felix played short. Later
