I went on the Baseball America site looking for winter league information. I had heard that Millege will be playing in Puerto Rico. They had links to three leagues, Venezuela, Mexico and the dominican Republic. All three sites were in Spanish. Can someone please post links to Winter League sites that are in English? Later

The title to the thread is misleading. First of all, Delgado is American, he is from Puerto Rico. He is not anti-American. He has since explained that he refused to stand for a song (which is not our National Anthem, by the way) because he did not feel the US should have invaded Iraq. And, as an American, it was his right to feel that way. According to recent polls, over 50% of Americans now feel that way,too. We now return this thread back to baseball - The most misunderstood opinions I've seen on other boards since he signed with the Fish was that he "dissed" New York. I am of the opinion that it was the other way around. If Omar had approached him right after he signed Pedro, and before he went after Beltran and with the same fervor, Delgado would have signed with the Mets. But it appeared that Delgado was an after-thought, and that's why the negotiations ran into trouble. From what have I heard from my friends in Toronto, Delgado is a very proud man, and being an afterthought hurt his pride. Later

Edgy, as mentioned before, I haven't seen Woodward's name on any of the FA eligible lists. I'm not sure if this is because he signed a two year deal last year, or if he doesn't have the requisite time in the majors to be eligible for free agency. He may just be arbitration eligible, but still Met property. Do you have a source I may not have seen? Later

I checked the UMDB and baseball reference and neither mentions how the Mets disposed of Sherman "Roadblock" Jones in 1962. Was he released? Sent down? Anyone know? Later

This gets me into the definition of most valuable. To me, its is the player who helped his team most, and if he weren't in their lineup, how well would they have done. A-Rod may not have been the most valuable player on his own team. Many Yankee fans who have been calling the talk shows (and a few of the ESPN radio hosts) would have considered Mariano Rivera more valuable, especially when the Yanks had other great hitters in that lineup. The rap I hear most for A-Rod is that he is a complier- great stats but not many of his hits game-changing. Papi had many late inning hits this year that led directly to Boston wins, and many have doubted if the Sox would have been contenders if he were not in the lineup. But my vote would have gone to Vlad. Early in the season, when he was hurt, his team was far behind Oakland in the standings. But as soon as he returned to the lineup, they surged to the top of their division. His presence was demonstratably most valuable (to his team) IMHO. Don't get me wrong. A-Rod ain't chopped liver. And most fans would want him on their team. But for this particular award, in this particular year, I owuld have voted for Vlad. Later

More on the Lindstrom injury. The Daily News article says he had been topping out at 100MPH in the AFL, and that the stress fracture of the arm will only require two months of rest to heal. It was not his elbow or shoulder, and he will be ready for spring training. Why the sudden interest in Otsuka? His ERA was mid 3's, and he only had a handful of saves. Do they see something in his stuff that makes him interesting/ projectable as a setup man or closer? I would think the Mets could get more for Cameron than that. Anyone know more about him? Later
