  2. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I remember years ago Madonna telling David Letterman that peeing in the shower was a good way to cure athlete's foot. Well, I guess if you're not going to use that urine to toughen up your hands (a la Alou) then you might as well put it to other good uses. Back to Keppinger. A while ago, Edgy mentioned a player who's situation I liken to Keppinger's, in terms of being a second baseman who had good minor league numbers but never seemed to get a real chance in the bigs - Jason Hardtke. Neither was considered to be a great fielder. Jason hit for more power, but Jeff has hit for higher averages. LA had a guy like that in Adam Riggs a few years ago. He never seemed to get a chance, either, despite some impressive minor league numbers. You wonder how guys get labelled (such as a AAAA player) and how tough it is to get rid of that label. I'm not saying Jeff has that tag yet, but it sure looks like he could get it soon. Later
  3. Edgy DC wrote: My guess is only technically, not realistically. He's looking like James Baldwin right now --- the experienced American League guy with nothing left but moxie and denial (and, like Scott Erickson, a wife not meant for minor leaguer towns), stashed at Norfolk all season waiting for a crisis, at which point he can come up and hopefully not exacerbate it, like Baldwin did. Fifty-six words in that last sentence. We already have one of those guys in camp -Darrin Oliver. Later
  4. I would hope that if Bannister shows he isn't ready Willie will get him out of the rotation faster than he did with Ishii last year. Later
  5. Do you have a link for the Perez, Ring and Keppinger cuts? Or is this based on the interview with Eddie C on WFAN this morning? Later
  6. Ok, so its a definite maybe at this point. Rules subject to change Neatness counts In case of a tie, NO duplicate prizes will be awarded. Later
  7. But I heard someone on the radio (Eddie C ? ) say that Diaz may make the squad, and they will only bring 11 pitchers north from ST. Later
  8. metirish wrote: Yeah really, I'd suspect Bagwell as much as any of them, arms like tree trunks, built like a shit brick house, late career injuries..... Shit brick house? Interesting turn of phrase. How do we know Bagwell is clean? I'm just reporting what Phillips said. Apparently he may have known that as part of his GM duties when assessing players on other clubs. In any event, he seemed (from his tone of voice) to be positive about it. Later

    SIX!

Someone feel free to post a picture of Alfonseca, the pitcher with six fingers. Later
  10. Johnny Dickshot wrote: The Mets offered him back to the Giants but they said no. And, so did every other major league team. Later
  11. This morning on ESPN radio, Steve Phillips was asked if he thought Jeff Bagwell is a Hall of Famer. He replied that he thought so, because not only were his numbers good and he won several awards, but that he has been thought of as someone who has stayed "clean" (meaning not taking steroids). Questions: Do you think Bagwell is a Hall of Famer? AND Do you think future voters will consider whether players took steroids when they are being considered for the Hall, or will they chalk it up to "well, everyone was taking them in that era"? Later
  12. They can send Rule V draftee Wylie back to his original team to make room for Feliciano. Anyone else cut from the 40 man roster has to go through waivers. Later
  13. That reminds me. I thought I sw a ST box score in which Offerman was playing for another team. Bad news is, I forgot which team. My bad. Later
  14. Its past your bed time. Go to sleep, kid. Later
  15. It became specific about Seo, and took away the race card. Good choice. Oops, I may have been thinking about the Keppinger thread. Later

  19. I don't have Cablevision. I have Charter Communications. I received an email a while back when I inquired about them getting SNY that said they were "in negotiations" with Cablevision. If that's true, it means they won't get a direct SNY feed, but get it from CV. Maybe that's thr reason for the delay. Later
  20. Light at the end of the tunnel? I received a letter from my local cable company that said that as of May1, the Golf Channel will be moved to the premium sports tier. That will open up a spot next to MSG and YES in the non-premium sports station group. I can only hope they will use that spot for SNY. But, May1? Later
