  1. Justin Huber was traded by KC to the Pods yesterday for a PTBNL. Didn't he originally catch for a few years in the minors? Later

    Lenny

  3. ="Frayed Knot"][mockheadline]YANKS SURGE INTO 1st PLACE TIE[/headline] Any Yankee fan will tell you that the Red Sox are just a .500 team. And, don't forget (using a hockey term) the Yanks now have two games in hand. The AL East race is oficially over. Later

Sorry, couldn't paste the image I had copied/ saved. It was a picture of Butter Buds that I was going to call Buddy Harrelson's Buds. I hat technocrap. Later
  5. How can anyone not root for him to make it back to the majors? A feel good story. Later
  6. I had Allen on my list, but forgot to add him to the list. When I went back to add him, the system wouldn't let me. Maybe that's because votes had already been cast. Thanks. Reardon and Aguillera were ex-Mets and were relievers. I never used the word closer. They went on to become closers for the teams to which they were traded. Later
  7. Which of the following ex-Met relievers would you have had the most confidence in coming in to protect a one run lead in Game 7 of a World Series? Later
  8. ="Triple Dee"] Can't someone please delay the start for another week, so we can see this picture posted again? Later
  9. I'd like to thank all of you who have made this place an "intelligent, lively and provocative" place to discuss the Mets and many other subjects. I've already given thought to the person who will become my future avatar and think I have chosen a good one. But then, I will have another 999 posts to let you know about that. Later
  10. Try "Made in Canada Field". I happened to notice last week that's where they're making the gum these days. Later
  11. Jeff Conine http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3296468 Later
  12. Casanova is, IIRC, also a switch hitter, which could be a deciding factor VS Molina. Later
  13. AG/DC wrote: Maybe Figgy can do some designs for the Crane Pool. He sounds like the kind of guy who would respond positively to an invitation. Later
  14. He's almost 34 years old, and hasn't pitched in the majors since 2004. He's had plenty of time to practice with that software. Later
  15. Oops, Ralphie. They were talking about fastball pitchers, and I thought I heard Kiner say that legendary lefty Steve Dalkowski pitched in the majors. A check of the Baseball Cube and Baseball Reference sites shows he never did. Later
  16. Farmer Ted wrote: He attended games at Forbes Field. Yabbut, Franco attended the first game ever played there. Later
  17. themetfairy wrote: You're going out of the country on a trip, but your passport hasn't arrived yet. Whom can you trust to forge you a good one? Computer whiz Davey Johnson could probably figure out a way to print up a real good one. You want to go to a current movie, but there are several ones you might want to see. Which Met would you trust to suggest the one that you would enjoy most? Later
  18. If you've been noticing, the recent six game winning streak was led by scrubs and minor leaguers. Do you think all those regulars were really hurt, or is this part of Omar's secret plan to boost the ratings of the minor league organization? OK, so I was kidding. Later
  19. The driver is Tom Glavine. He already lost some teeth in a car accident, so he figures lightning can't strike twice in the same spot. He'd be fearless. Speaking of spots, you're the best man at a wedding and just spilled red wine on the front of your shirt. Who will you call to clean out the spot in time for picture taking? Later
  20. I remember Casey Stengel yelling "butcher boy" to the Mets hitters. When a reporter asked him what that meant he said that butchers chop meat and he wanted the hitter to chop down on the ball. The story about the hard dirt around home plate in Baltimore is the version I heard, too. And I agree with Mole on Keeler's phrase. Mole, that sig lines brings back memories. Later
  21. Vic Sage wrote: starters? Pagan is the only 1 of those guys that will even make the 25-man roster, and even with him its mostly due to injury. If Delgado is unable to start the season on the active roster due to injury(gasp!), Olmedo Saenz could be your starting first baseman. (double gasp!!) You heard it here first. Later
  22. He's loved by the men he works with. Later
  23. As I said, that wasn't my original intent. In fact, I wasn't aware that Donn had died when I used the term. But that makes sense. Later
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: So change it from "Memorial" to "Honorary" excellent idea for the name of the DL. Now, who should it be? ElDuque? (my nominee) Stearns? Who else should be in the running? Let your voices be heard!! Later
  25. I believe the purpose of calling it "memorial" was to remember the player for the type of player he was. I don't think the player had to be dead to have the roster spot named after him. Atl least that wasn't my intent when I proposed the first name. (Donn Clendennon) Later
