1. No thanks on the movie, but I'd probably try to find the sound track CD. Later
2. Nice list. What was the fundamental reality in Invaders from Mars? I don't recall the plot. Later
3. Vic Sage wrote: in the "deluded protagonist" sub-genre (like JACOB'S LADDER, OCCURRENCE AT OWL CREEK BRIDGE, SIXTH SENSE, MEMENTO, BEAUTIFUL MIND, ENEMY, etc.), the plot's reliance on its twist ending makes it a one-trick pony. But its pretty well done, nonetheless. Do you include Don't Look Now in that category? Of course, one movie trailer told viewers not to reveal the ending. It was Witness For the Prosecution. Later
4. Watched it during the storm yesterday. I saw it on regular TV with commercial interruptions, so it ran 3 hours. It does wheelies on the line between mystery and eerie(not quite horror). The story has a wraps-everything-up-neatly ending with an "oh crap" twist. I liked it. Later
5. In 1954, a U.S. marshal investigates the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo and even has an appearance by my pal Max Von Sydow. It was directed by Martin Scorcese.
6. Edgy MD wrote: In my experience, Rocky Balboa got a mostly positive reception. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't bear to watch another one. Later
7. In the opening scene of the Alien Nation TV sci-fi series, a cop in the future drives past a movie theater. The marquee shows that the film playing is Rocky VI. Every time I watched that show, I chuckled over something so unimaginable. So, to avoid life imitating art so closely, (or maybe it was the reviews of Rocky Balboa?) I stopped at Rocky IV. Later

My grandkids saw it and liked it. But the star who sang the nominated song at the Oscars was awful. I hope it is better in the actual movie. Later
9. Vic Sage wrote: But i'm pretty sure that only one of those Newmans has a top 40 single. short people got no reason short people got no reason short people got no reason to live..... He wrote another one (my fingers start to cramp in anticipation of typing this) I Love L.A. Grandma Luba and Grandpa Michael were able to say, "My son Irving, the Doctor". Later
10. Obligatory movie analogy- If there had been a mix-up like that with the envelopes at Don Corleone's daughter's wedding, the person who did it would be wearing cement shoes at the bottom of the river by now. Later
11. themetfairy wrote: BTW, if you are wondering what Lin-Manuel's Emmy award is for, check this out. It's legen- wait for it - dary! Just shut the award shows down and just give Neil Patrick Harris any awards he wants. I enjoyed that. Thank you. Later
12. It was a cute little movie and, despite what I had read, the singers had the voices I felt they should have had. I gave it 8 stars. It was well done and much better than I thought it would be. Choreography, original music, story and acting made a nice package that deserves its Oscar nod. Later
13. Its being rereleased for those of us who missed it. Later

Wifey says she's too freaked out by the trailer to see it. So I'll either see it alone or wait for it to come to TV. Later
15. Edgy MD wrote: Well, among what can be considered Disney characteristics is the very forced PG-ness you describe. I guess it could be considered that, but it didn't feel cloying like other Disney films. Later
16. themetfairy wrote: This is a fine film. It's toned down for a PG rating, so I'm sure the hope is that it will get a lot of views by high school and middle school classes. One thing that D-Dad noticed was that in Virginia in the early 1960's you didn't see one person smoking within the film. Kevin Costner chews a lot of gum, though, which appears to be a wink and a nod to the cigarettes he's not smoking. Again, for the kids in the audience.... MMYF said a lot of the same things. We also talked about the segregated buildings, rest rooms and the Woolworth in town and like there had been in the Southern towns we visited as kids. I liked the music. And the cars, lots of them, all appropriate. One teensy technical quibble. The main character was asked if she knew Analytic Geometry, yet many of the formulas on the chalk boards were really Calculus. I didn't notice any discernible Disney-ism (if there is such a word). It was well done and deserves any award recognition it may receive. Later
17. Kieth Law rates him # 60. http://sports.yahoo.com/m/cd8b2e0f-3792-31f3-bf2d-42042ecdfee0/law-says-thomas-szapucki-is.html Later
18. Underworld - Blood Wars is the fifth in the Underworld series about the battle between Vampires and Lycans (werewolves) that has been raging for centuries. This one is about Seline trying to protect a coven from the united, stronger Lycan clan. She is also trying to find Michael, the father of her daughter who is a direct descendant of Alexander Corvenus, the first true immortal and "the father of us all". If you haven't seen or read about the past movies, you will find out information you should know in two ways. Before the credits, you hear a brief narrative from Seline to set the scene. Then, when additional background is needed, if a vampire tastes the blood of another vampire, they can read his thoughts and learn addition information (also presented as clips from the past movies). Clever way to fill in the blanks, eh? Later .
19. Vic Sage wrote: i loved it, mostly, and I think the complaints i've heard about the lack of singing and dancing ability of Gosling and Stone are both overstated and miss the point. I do think its somewhat overlong and rambling, and a lot of it is lifted without acknowledgment form UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG, but its still a terrific piece of filmmaking, and the music is really good. As we walked down the aisle to be married, the theme from the Umbrellas of Cherbourg ("If it Takes Forever, I will Wait For You") was played. We picked it because we waited two years for me to get out of the Army for us to wed. Haven't seen this movie yet. Should be interesting. We now return you to a movie review frame of mind. Later

23. In Braveheart - during the first major battle scene, Mel Gibson (ptui) is shown running into battle carrying a sword. Then, he's shown without his sword, pumping his fists as he runs. Then he has his sword in hand again as the battle begins. I'm not sure if that's bad editing or an oversight by the continuity person. Later
24. As per FK's prospect post in the baseball forum, Thomas is the #3 prospect in the organization, according to baseball prospectus. Later
25. A remake was shown on FOX last night. For some reason (legal restrictions?) the title of the show was: The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Let's Do the Time Warp Again I had a few problems with the production. The biggest was I couldn't hear the sound well. It wasn't that it wasn't loud enough, but I couldn't hear some of the lyrics clearly. Another problem was the director used too many close-ups, losing the fun of the goings-on at the fringes of the stage or in the background. The third problem was some actors trying to speak with a British accent who couldn't. That said, it was good to hear the songs and see the dances again, the acting was appropriately over the top, and the sets were fun. Tim Curry was there, but as the narrator. But then, when it ended at 10PM Eastern Time, the original movie was shown on the LOGO network. And when I saw it I remembered how much better the original film was. I'm not going to post a poll, but would be interested in your comments. Later
