  1. Opening the season at St. Lucie. Not a good sign. Later
  2. Ceetar wrote: lol, David Ortiz got thrown out trying to steal. And had the nerve to argue the call. Maybe he was hoping the Ump would be laughing so hard that he'd have tears in his eyes. Later
  3. I was glad Collins let Kirk hit against the Meiskite* (that's "ugly one" in Yiddish) lefty. Even though he made an out, he hit a line drive, taking the pitch the other way. He may have lost an inning, but he gave the kid confidence that he won't be automatically jerked out of there against lefties. Then, he hit for him with Hairston later in the game. Oh well ... Later * = pronounced MEE- iss- kite.
  4. If anyone will take the Cards, I'll take SF, to keep my 50 year anniversary NL pennant winner KTE streak going. Let me know. Later
  5. My triple was Mets win and Yank and Braves losses. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17322&start=50 Later
  6. Our third straight triple-happiness day. And Jeff Keppinger is on a TEAR, I tell ya'. Later
  7. I was at work today, but we followed the game. The best part to me was reminding a particularly annoying Yankee fan (is that redundant?) that Cee Cee gave up 5 runs in six innings to lineup that had Jeff Keppinger batting cleanup. Let me repeat that. Jeff Keppinger batting cleanup. It was the highlight (other than the MFY loss itself) of an otherwise slow day. Later
  8. 15-10 , 3.04 And the first _ _ - _ _ _ _ _ _ (don't want to jinx it) in team history. Later
  9. Source: Beam Him Up To The Bigs. So how long do you think it's gonna take for the James T. Kirk puns to die.....cos I;m not sure I can live in a world where I'm exposed to them on a daily basis. That's why I refer to him as the "Dutch Treat" , because he makes opponents pay. Later
  10. Since I've been a Mets fan since their very first game, I'll take their very first opponent - the Cards. Later
  11. I'm so excited that I could be a Pointer Sister. Later
  12. Good job. Do we have a list where we can sign up for future KTEs? Later
  13. Edgy DC wrote: Latinos pitted against US-born players. Why do you think (the attempt at) unionization would cause that would happen? Later
  14. Larry is on the DL and will miss the series. I wish he had invited Uggla to join him. Later
  15. Where they will finish in the NL East - Fourth What the final record will be - 78-84 But I'm as excited as a Pointer Sister about this season. I think the Mets will both play exciting baseball with a lot of offense, as well as begin to show us more than a peek at some of the good prospects emerging from the minors. Side note - good job, Edgy, in the BP DePodesta interview, even if he dwelt too much on your handle and didn't fully answer what you were asking to my satisfaction. I thought you were asking if there is going to be a top-to-bottom organizational "playbook" such as the one Frank Cashen brought from Baltimore, from which things (like where to station the cutoff man, defending bunt plays, etc) are taught uniformly across all levels of the organization. He seemed to indicate different coaching will be permitted. Not what I wanted to hear. Later
  16. OK, I'll say it. I like Ike. Later
  17. Irish said it all - "Good for the Reds and their fans." Later
  18. Davis and Duda were the entire offense - one hit each (at least, one went the distance this time). That is a script I fear will be repeated all too often this year. Later
  19. Little Andy (or is it Andy Little?) scheduled to pitch for the MFYs against the Mets on Wednesday. (Think I heard it on WFAN) Later
  20. Under 100 games (and many of those for defensive purposes). Under 300 AB. Under .615 OPS. Under scrutiny as to when he can be replaced, not if. Later
  21. Does Fred Wilpon ever smile? (If he does, please spare us the pics until we can get the wimmins and chilluns out of the room.) Later
  22. Edgy DC wrote: Not for nothing, but it isn't baseball that we're spreading. Japan has been baseball-mad since the 1930s, probably earlier, in many ways to a degree that would shame us. What we're spreading is MLB's affiliated brands. The local sports doofus on one of the CT stations introduced the game highlights by saying something like "We're trying to bring baseball to Japan". I came thisclose to calling the station and questioning his qualifications. Also - If they play these games in the US in July or August, about eleven fans show up - in either city. Later
  23. Edgy, as one of my bosses used to say, "Please don't try to dazzle us with logic". That idea makes too much sense. Later
  24. The Second Spitter wrote: In other scores: Sri Lanka 318 & 214 England 193 & 111/2 At stumps on Day 3. In that sport, "through the wickets" isn't an error. Later
  25. Let's put the chances for trading Bay in the proper perspective. Which of the following doesn't belong with the others? A) AIDS Herpes C) Gonorrhea D) Jason Bay. The answer is "C". You can get rid of Gonorrhea. Later
