  1. RIP, DOOK. We loved 'ya. Thanks, Edgy. Later
  2. With an attachment like that, the trip back to Las Vegas won't be so bad. Maybe she can join you when you are brought up to the majors in September to be Matt Harvey's stunt double and pitch a few mop up innings with a 1.30 WIP. Better yet. You stay there. Just send her. Later
  3. Is that a cactus in your pants, or are you just happy to see me? Later
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: On-screen suffering is maybe second only to playing handicapped as sure-fire Oscar bait. And when the Academy has an "oops" moment, they try to make up for it quickly. Jane Fonda suffered enough to deserve one for They Shoot Horses, Don't They? She didn't win, but got one the next year for her ordinary performance in Klute. But I'm still waiting for the Academy to make it up to Edward Norton after not giving him the Best Supporting Actor award for Primal Fear. Later
  5. Will fight Edgin and Smoker for a spot on the 25 man roster. Will start to season in AAA until he proves his arm is ok. Then, he'll be brought back up and pitch to the tune of 40G, 37 IP, 14 holds, 1.27 WHIP and 2.96 ERA. Maybe a save or two thrown in there in some weird extra inning games. OE checked Edgy's roster info. Jerry doesn't have any options left. So he'll start the season will the big club, pitch sparingly until they're sure his arm is ok, and put up similar numbers to those above. Later
  6. I'm disappointed that the only penalty for violating for doing this is being called out. The intent is to injure the fielder. I'd add: (5) When a Met fielder is injured, the violator should be removed from the game, hung from the center field flagpole and disemboweled. Later

  8. Go to MetsMinor.net for an article regarding recent International signings. Signed and reported as/of 2/22/16: Shervyen Newton- Inf- Netherlands Pedro Nolasco- of- Dominican Republic Miguel Pinedo- P- Columbia Brian Campusano- P- Dominican Republic Miguel Ramirez- P-Dominican Republic Andres Regnault- C- Venezuela Edison Valdez- OF- Dominican Republic David Lozano- INF- Columbia Jorge Martinez-C- Columbia As with what FK noted about the Rosario signing, the opinions on these guys may change over time. 9. 1. You are driving a: Classic Packard convertible 2. You are wearing: red T-shirt, blue shorts 3. And of course, the shoes are: Docksiders 4. As you get closer, reporters can hear [u:38scpx18]Earth, Wind and Fire [/u:38scpx18]blasting from your speakers. 5. Pulling in, they look in your passenger seat and see: My cello 6. You turn off your engine, get out, and say: Something they can't quote in their stories the next day. It would be "Fuck you, you plagiarizing hacks." or something like that. Later
  10. Respected? C'mon, be real. http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-20160224-story.html Later
  11. Do we have any pictures of Terry driving up in a Packard? This thread already deserves a prominent place in the CPF archives, and its not even half way through the 25 man roster. Later

  14. Following minor leaguers in those days was limited to reading The Sporting News each week. But Brock Pemberton's name caught the interest of many Mets fans. I'm guessing his name was a primary reason many fans made the effort to follow his progress while he was in the organization. He just sounded like he was going to be good. RIP Later

  16. I wonder what the giveaway will be? Paging Mr. Fman. Paging Mr. Fman. Anyhow, good for them. Later
  17. Of all the players the Mets tried at third base during those early years, I remember him being one of the few who hit left handed. RIP. Later
  18. Until he shows us that when he is in the game, he can be the old Wright we knew and loved, when the winning run is on third, for either team. Later
  19. Edgy MD wrote: WtF would Garner even have a crowbar in the locker room? The reporters would have asked him, but were afraid to pry. (Yes, pun intended) Later
  20. I liked him and his gut. (We discussed other players like that in a thread when he got here) I still like him and wish him well. As used to be said, you could wake him up at 6 in the morning New Years Day, and he could stagger out of bed with a huge hangover and hit a line drive off the first pitch he saw. (I first heard that said about Smokey Burgess) Keep swinging, Juan. Later
  21. I remember him being a chuck and duck pitcher. I don't recall him having one good outing. Later
  22. Do they see this before or after the no gambling sign? Or did this one replace it? The best sign to motivate their players would be the anti-Major League approach. They start with a naked picture of Suzyn Waldmann and put a small piece of clothing on it with every victory. Later
  23. Edgy MD wrote: He's had 59 holds to go with his 37 career saves. With 24 "blown saves" (which are really blown leads), that gives him a 79.2% conversion rate, which strikes me as more or less healthy. When we saw that 103 MPH stuff, expectations were set higher. And, maybe our perception of him was clouded by looking across the river at Mariano. I guess you're right. Bobby was ok. We can't bash him for not being Rivera. Nobody was. Later

No. Its probably just Detroit. They burn cars to celebrate sports victories there. A battle involving superheroes is no biggie to them. Haven't seen the movie yet. Later
  25. Edgy MD wrote: Yes. Please use responsibly. Or, as David Letterman used to say, this is for entertainment purposes only. No wagering. It is a true labor of love. Great job. Thanks. Later
