  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm not clear on what it's saying, though. It may be saying that that's how long it would take if you were just drifting with the flow of the water. It may be quicker if the boat is being powered. There are many cruises you can take on the Ohio River: https://www.cruisecompete.com/river_cruises/water/ohio_river/1https://www.cruisecompete.com/river_cruises/water/ohio_river/1 When I stayed at the old "Big E" hotel in Owensboro, KY (a beautiful place that was gutted by fire and now replaced) there was a stop for one of the old paddleboat steamers. One came to dock there and it was like looking at a page out of history. Later
  3. TWOKABOOMS! Why do I feel the three runs might not be enough? Later
  4. I can understand that military assignment. Kiner used to mention his great eyesight. And, as someone responsible for locating and rescuing downed pilots as well as enemy subs, he was well qualified. If I were a pilot downed in the ocean, I would want someone with Kiner's eyesight looking for me. Later
  5. Jared Eickhoff is not really the guy I want toeing the mound in that ballpark. Maybe we could just get a rubber tee with his name on it and hope that they miss some foul. The way they used to say that was, "Tell the outfielders to play deep and cut across." Later
  6. Thanks, Ben. Later
  7. Looks like we're starting not-so-formal KTEs again. Eleven years ago, I started writing 50 year anniversary KTEs for certain opponents. I started with one for the 1960 World Series Champion Pirates. The second was for the 1961 NL Pennant winning Reds. I think the others were the 1962 San Francisco pennant winner and the 1964 World Series Champion Cardinals. I'm not going to do a 60 year look-back, but the old ones weren't in the KTE archives when I looked. Were they ever kept? Later
  8. Psst. Quick! Get out of town before somebody realizes the Mets won and makes them play another inning. Later
  9. Did anyone interview Tylor Megill after the game? He must be pissed. Later
  10. He would have found loads of "ain't" spots to "hit 'em" against the shift. Later
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Nothing on Twitter neither. Maybe a trade is a-brewin'. And, JD Davis, who has been activated, isn't in the lineup either. Hmmmm. Later
  12. Black cap, blue cap - both with classic NY blue and orange logo. I also have a Brooklyn Cyclones and a Columbia Bombers cap. The only jersey I own is an original Jackie Robinson Brooklyn Dodger pinstripe I got many years ago and never wear. But I do wear a black golf shirt with a Mets encircled logo on the left front and Mets color trim. My wife and I have T-shirts we have worn to games, one orange and one blue. (no logos) I probably wear the Cyclones cap more than any other piece of garb I mentioned. I once wore the Columbia cap to the flea market where I've met Kase, and a dumb MFY fan (sorry for the redundancy) asked me if it was a Columbus Clippers cap (the AAA MFY affiliate at the time). I told him in very condescending manner that it wasn't. It was the highlight of my day. Later
  13. =G-Fafif post_id=71468 time=1626451120 user_id=55] Some would call this thread title rash.
  14. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Trade minor leaguer to the Cibs for Joc Pederson. Emergency replacement for Acuna and signal they will try and hang in there Clever thread title. Did you ever think about becoming a writer? Later
  15. ESPN reporting that Aaron Judge is under "COVID protocol." Later
  16. Edgy MD wrote: No, I don't think you're a Wilpon. And I certainly don't think any comment warrants a nuclear reaction. I changed my post. Later
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Wait a minute ... MFS62 is a Wilpon? And I am not a Wilpon. I hope you were trying to show how silly his attack was. Later
  18. Lefty Specialist wrote: Meh. Hate them. Always have. Always will. Black is not a Met color. You can make a case for it. When the Mets were born, they adapted the colors of the teams that had left New York - Brooklyn Dodger blue and New York Giants orange. But in their later years (from the 1930-1936 and 1948-1957) the New York Giants team colors were orange and black. So, you could say black pays homage to that team. I don't care one way or another, but just throwing that out there. Later
  19. =bmfc1 post_id=71403 time=1626382000 user_id=73] Maybe it's time to name them. Let them explain to the fans why they think that they know more than the Doctors and are willing to put the team's pennant chances in jeopardy as well as the health of their teammates, their families, the team's staff and, employees.
  20. =Ceetar post_id=71365 time=1626302291 user_id=102] Hopefully there's no rat/raccoon type incident to talk about instead.
  21. A Boy Named Seo wrote: He's "only" 37 and very well rested. Certainly doesn't hurt to check him out, especially given the state of our pitching depth. Right. If he hasn't lost too much off his fastball (and the radar guns will tell them) he would now fit into the category of "crafty lefty starter". And there is always a place for that kind of pitcher on a pennant contender's staff. He last full year (2019) was good, and because of almost two years of inactivity (was he injured?) he's only "35". Kick the tires, guys. Later
  22. Glad to see the CPF was well represented. The mic-ed up Liam Hendricks (the AL closer) was really our Fmann in disguise. He dropped a few cuss words while pitching because he thought his mic wasn't working. It was. Later
  23. If we don't have a recent picture of Taijaun Walker's better half, we should. https://sports.yahoo.com/taijaun-walker-talks-most-fashionable-201508190.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/taijaun-walker-talks-most-fashionable-201508190.html (link is to story from SNY) Later
  24. Frayed Knot wrote: S.A.S. is merely doing what every other ESPN "personality" does which is to find a way to tell everyone how baseball gets it wrong, and in this case he's saying that it hurts the sport when the hot new thing in town doesn't speak English well enough to 'connect' with fans. For a guy like Smith, whose main focus is the star-driven entity that is the NBA, 'star power' is the lens through which he's going to see things. When he's not a hyper-obnoxious vociferous fan of the basketball team for which he roots, SAS generally views everything through the prism of race. In this case it wasn't even his race. Later
  25. Oh, I took my time, re -writing that several times, just to be sure it would be taken as a joke. But right after I hit submit I realized you aren't an editor any more. Later
