  1. His death didn't give me Good Vibrations. Later
  2. To follow up on Edgy's funny Roster Thread Buckingham(s) comment, but not Lindsay, that lineup looks like Kind of a Drag. Later
  3. =Ceetar post_id=99288 time=1657569100 user_id=102] It's a 90mph slider tailing away from you, or a 98 mph fastball letter-high, now you don't just want to hit it, you want to hit it a tiny fraction of a second late so it goes towards third?
  4. Clay won't be pitching for any team immediately. I read (can't find the link - Amazin Avenue?) that he was put on the inactive list when he got to Syracuse. It didn't say if it was the IL, COVID list or paternity list or for how long. Later
  5. Back to McNeil being out of this series. If there is one position I feel confident in the backup, it is Guillorme at second. We got this covered. LFGM! Later
  6. Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a good time. Later
  7. Pete, Marte, McNeil and Diaz have been named to the NL All Star team, as per MLB.com. https://www.mlb.com/mets?partnerId=zh-20220710-646715-NYM-1-A&qid&utm_id=zh-20220710-646715-NYM-1-A&bt_ee=tq6xO9hqjh3TuVt5BXSrSVX4PAHrAsDhjO%2F%2Btt1%2F%2Bm21p5O1Jhtjt1cDcDpDn6Ay&bt_ts=1657491006070https://www.mlb.com/mets?partnerId=zh-20220710-646715-NYM-1-A&qid&utm_id=zh-20220710-646715-NYM-1-A&bt_ee=tq6xO9hqjh3TuVt5BXSrSVX4PAHrAsDhjO%2F%2Btt1%2F%2Bm21p5O1Jhtjt1cDcDpDn6Ay&bt_ts=1657491006070 Later
  8. You should visit more often. Later
  9. Edgy MD wrote: What seems like an oblique injury to McCannister may offer itself as a pretext to call Francisco's name. While I'd like to see it, he hasn't adjusted to AAA pitching yet, and has been in a (hopefully) mini-slump since he got there. If he had ben mashing at Syracuse, a better argument could be made for bringing him up. With Alvarez, I'll trust the old adage "Good things happen to those who wait". Later
  10. The fact that someone named Jeter scored the winning run against the MFYs made the day even nicer. Here's the story of his day, from MLB: https://www.mlb.com/news/jeter-downs-scores-winning-run-red-sox-walk-off-yankees?partnerId=zh-20220710-647207-mlb-1-A&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20220710-647207-mlb-1-A&bt_ee=X%2Fbfgieqp35NEtS5n2LIFHYl2swvHJMONl6KYniTbMSFMJ4HkLIidqkSEc3l2ckE&bt_ts=1657459154809https://www.mlb.com/news/jeter-downs-scores-winning-run-red-sox-walk-off-yankees?partnerId=zh-20220710-647207-mlb-1-A&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20220710-647207-mlb-1-A&bt_ee=X%2Fbfgieqp35NEtS5n2LIFHYl2swvHJMONl6KYniTbMSFMJ4HkLIidqkSEc3l2ckE&bt_ts=1657459154809 Later
  11. Had 'em all the way. Nido means "key to victory" in all languages spoken in Metdom. Later
  12. I remember when he was a Pirate minor leaguer. RIP Later
  13. Considering all the publicity, do you think the overall impact on the game has been greater than we think it is, or less? Later
  14. Game Time 4:10 PM Braxton Garrett 1-3 4.25 Carlos Carrasco 9-4 4.64 LFGM Later
  15. Corrected. Thanks. It comes across to me as the way the new generation of business focused owners can understand what they have bought. I'm more concerned about the way numbers are being used for player development. For example, how many good contact/ spray /OBP hitters have been messed up by coaches concerned with launch angle and power? We may never know. Later
  16. It has been 20 years since the season we read about (and later saw) in Moneyball. How do you feel about the increased use of Moneyball concepts (analytics) in the evaluation process since then? BA has an article about this, but I can't get beyond the paywall to find it and post a link. Later
  17. A SUBWAY commercial says their Italian sub sandwich has "Italian Style Capicola". To translate, to Tony Soprano, that was just Gabagool. Later
  18. Lefty Specialist wrote: Bassitt shaking off Nido repeatedly. He really needs to get in synch with him. COVID is affecting his ability to count fingers. Later
  19. From the Pottsville, PA Republican-American , reprinted in Yahoo sports. Syracuse infielder Todd Blankenhorn was named AAA Player of the month. Since June 1, Blankenhorn has hit at a .383/.463/.673 slash with an OPS of 1.136. He has hit seven homers in 123 plate appearances, including two Wednesday night in the Mets' 9-4 win over the Buffalo Bison. Later

  21. My take on the first cartoon was not so much that the other Mets weren't worthy of inclusion, but that Gallo was wishing that all of the other Mets could be more like Thomas. Thomas nickname was "Donkey". He used to catch fastballs thrown at him barehanded. I don't remember any of his Mets teammates being able to catch anything(with the exception of Richie Ashburn). Later
  22. No official word, but Calvin hasn't pitched in about two weeks. Me must be on the IL. Or was eaten by a gator. Later
  23. My reverse psychology worked. In a slump? Just have MFS62 say they suck and they do well. Works every time, which is why I'm terrible in those prediction threads. I'll just have to say the whole team sucks going into the Braves series. You can thank me .... Later
  24. =bmfc1 post_id=98605 time=1657160484 user_id=73] How many rows deep is that HR in New Yankee Stadium?
