  1. Jeuris Familia has signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox. Later
  2. =Fman99 post_id=103073 time=1660038388 user_id=86] I'll be there tonight with Fgirl, hopefully he's in the lineup. Vientos has been one of our best hitters this season.
  3. Baseball awards (MVP, Cy Young) are voted on after the regular season, so playoff success doesn't count. I'm not sure if manager of the year is one of those awards. He kept a team with their two top pitchers on the IL in contention, so he deserves serious consideration. I don't follow other teams enough to know if there is another manager who did more with less. Later
  4. 15, if for no other reason than it was worn by two of my favorite all-time Mets Al Jackson and Jerry Grote. Later
  5. If somebody asks about the fans doing a tomahawk chop, just tell them is was actually a referee counting over a knocked down fighter. Later
  6. The Cardinals complete their sweep of the MFYs with today's 12-9 victory. Adam f'n Wainwright started, gave up six runs, and did not get the decision. Later
  7. =metsmarathon post_id=102854 time=1659915172 user_id=83] Damn yo, these Mets is a good team.
  8. It depends on which top 20 Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, SI and MLB all have top 20 type lists, sometimes updated at least once during the season. Baseball Digest used to do a rookie report annual issue. Those, and the Baseball America list are top 20 for each team. I'm not sure if you're wondering about a top 20 overall. If so, maybe SI. Their websites may keep old versions. Have fun. Later
  9. I'll admit it. As I read through this thread, I'm crying. Later
  10. =seawolf17 post_id=102772 time=1659878197 user_id=91] I think it's only in the first year of multi-year deals.
  11. WOW! At least he knows how to pack a suitcase. But these interest me: February 23, 2018: Signed as a Free Agent with the Texas Rangers. July 19, 2018: Traded by the Texas Rangers to the Chicago Cubs for Tyler Thomas (minors). and March 14, 2022: Signed as a Free Agent with the Chicago Cubs. April 21, 2022: Traded by the Chicago Cubs with cash to the Atlanta Braves for Sean Newcomb. I thought part of the CBA says you can't trade a signed free agent during his first year. Has this changed? Or somebody overlooked those deals saying, well, its only him? (j/k) Later
  12. Not only is McCann on the interstate, but he's heading toward county road (two digit number) territory. Later

In fact, if I could go back to the beginning and reinvent the game, I'd require each player in the lineup to pitch one inning. Complete Ballplayer - hit, hit with power, field, run and throw. If "throwing" includes pitching, why the heck not? Fun idea. Ohtani says, "Been there, done that." Obrigado. Later
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Weird shit is what it was. I backed up to watch it again. Anderson has been a mess. No way the Mets should allow him to get out of here with a win. He can't get the win. He only pitched 4 2/3 innings. Now, let's go win this thing. LFGM Later
  15. Checking the minor league scoreboard (this is going to be a long night): Syracuse up 4-0 in the 4th. Alvarez went deep for his 5th AAA home run. Vientos hasn't ben in the starting lineup for a few days but did hit a pinch hit homer a few games ago. Binghamton won the first game (end of a rain suspended game) 11-8. Bret Baty went 3-4 with 2 HR and 4 RBI. Game 2 just starting. Brooklyn leading 2-0 after 4. A Ramirez is 0-1 with a BB. He's hitting .287 since his promotion from low A ball. St. Lucie is down 7-4 in the 7th. Leadoff hitter Omar De Los Santos is 1-2 with a double and two stolen bases, giving him 55 SB on the season. Back to this game. Later
  16. My edit to the post was to ask the question about a blind link. I also find myself going back into posts because the keys on my new computer's keyboard stick and I later see that letters are omitted or doubled. Very frustrating. I thought the title of the site, which was visible in my link was sufficient. Does that mean I have to quote some part of the linked article? I'm being serious. I want to play by the rules. How specifically should I do that? Later
  17. Rosario is hitting under .200 and is batting fifth. So, he hits a dinger to prove he belongs there. Ugh. Later
  18. He said that he its his home runs the way he likes donuts - in bunches. Later
  19. I never said it was specifically the Mets in this instance. Responding to your sentence: That's not a distinction that baseball teams, including the Mets, always do a great job of drawing. For my future posts, you've mentioned this before, but I'm not sure what "blind link" means. It wasn't a pass through from ,say, a Yahoo to there. It was the link directly to that site. What do you consider a "non blind" link? Later

Edgy MD wrote: I'm pretty sure that wasn't the Mets. http://www.jewornotjew.com/profile.jsp?ID=392http://www.jewornotjew.com/profile.jsp?ID=392 They mention the Mets holding the event, then say "right, Florida?" so I'm not sure if the Mets or Florida made the mistake. Either way, it IS an example of pandering and the team that did it made a mistake. Later
  21. Edgy MD wrote: That's not a distinction that baseball teams, including the Mets, always do a great job of drawing. Or they can fall on their face trying to pander (no pun intended) to a group, and become an embarrassment. Remember the salute to Mike Jacobs on Jewish Heritage night? Then they found out he isn't Jewish. Later

  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Duh! Head slap! I knew that! If he was a six-year Met, fans would probably be demanding a statue of Carter in front of Citi Field. If he were still alive, you'd have Carter demanding a statue of Carter in front of Citi Field. Later
  24. When I saw the definition, that was the first example that came to mind. And then I remembered China hosting the Olympics. Later
  25. Lefty Specialist wrote: Seems that the Mets are either witting or unwitting accomplices to the Chinese Communist Party. I would guess unwitting. Later
