  1. Vientos really likes this [CROSSOUT]minor [/CROSSOUT]American League pitching. Later
  2. In case you're wondering what other Metly thing you can do while waiting for the game, Francisco Alvarez isn't in the starting lineup for Syracuse. So you may have to re-run an old game. Later
  3. =kcmets post_id=108394 time=1663966570 user_id=53] I hope Judge hits three homers tonight so Michael Kay can't put his parasitic brand on the historical moment. That would amuse me!
  4. The real places where all the action is are the sports betting sites. They must be going nuts with all the betting possibilities and the daily changing odds. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: but not so much if you're a TV viewer or, say, Michael Kay or one of their other announcers looking to be part of the fun. On ESPN Radio, Mike Greenberg was interviewing Michael Kay about the excitement surrounding Judge's quest for the record. Kay said he was still thinking about what call he would make. He sounded like he was considering several different ones. He's really going to be pissed if he can't use any of them because the call will become an instant re-play and last for a long time. Later
  6. I wonder if they'll go Ruf or Vientos against the "low K" lefty? Without seeing the FB/GB splits, I take those numbers to mean hitters make contact, but aren't getting good swings against him. Maybe a funky delivery? (I've never seen him, either) Later
  7. Thanks. Ron Hunt was an Expo when he set the mark, so it looks like Canha has the single season record. Vina had more than Canha, but I had to check. He wasn't a Met when he got plunked 31 times. Later
  8. Another 2-4. Up to .225. Later
  9. Stop what? Why can't I post how I feel? If I want to be pessimistic, why can't I? And who are you to tell me to stop it? BTW, I edited my post to only include NL numbers. Later
  10. What about Mark Canha getting plunked 23 times, a single season Mets record? Where does that put him on the individual all-time list? Later
  11. I they have to go outside the 40 man for an outfielder, what about switch hitting Jake Mangum? He has been torrid (.342) at AAA since his return from the IL and can play center. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mangum000jakhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mangum000jak Later
  12. Culp was 41-41 against everyone else in he NL, but 10-2 against the Mets. His lifetime NL ERA was 3.68 but 2.59 against the Mets. He was the first example I thought of. I was in the Army with a virulent Phillies fan, and he tormented me about how the Mets couldn't beat Culp and Larry Jackson. I you're taking about mental health, I'm crazy about the Mets. Later
  13. Edgy MD wrote: It's healthy to expect them all to be tough. I could accept losing (not really) to the Koufaxes, Gibsons and Stargells of the world because they beat everybody. It was losing to the Ray Culps and Joey Amalfitanos that I never got used to. And that persists. Later
  14. =kcmets post_id=108309 time=1663794045 user_id=53] Gonna be a rough 11 game roller coaster ride I'm afraid.
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: KCR announces the departure of PBO Dayton Moore Wasn't he the Lone Ranger? Oh, wait! That was Clayton Moore. never mind (but the headlines would write themselves) Later
  16. Time to empty the bench so no other starters get hurt. Later
  17. Who is Tyrone Taylor? And why is he doing bad things to the Mets? Later
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Brian Chicklo: "Jeff, are you sure you can still go? Let me get another look at that knee." Jeff McNeil: "Leave me alone. I'm FINE." Brandon Nimmo: "Jeff, you're no help to the team hurting yourself worse. That's why I came out." Jeff McNeil: "Yeah, and also, you're a big baby. You leave me alone, too." It would not surprise me if that was the exact conversation. LOL! #feistysquirrel Later
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Maybe he needs an ankle injury every once in a while to give him a jump start. You may be onto something. He was 3 for 3 last night with a double and homer in a rain shortened game. Maybe he is stepping more gingerly because he's afraid to inure it again, and it has altered his stroke or approach to the pitch. Later
  20. =duan post_id=108182 time=1663748168 user_id=99] before we get too excited - lets not forget that Omir is just about 10 months younger then Juan Soto and he's only at single A.
  21. Daniels was fired after 17 years in Texas and not delivering a winner.(Despite spending a lot of money) https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2022/08/18/jon-daniels-out-as-rangers-president-after-17-years-leading-club-2/https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2022/08/18/jon-daniels-out-as-rangers-president-after-17-years-leading-club-2/ And building a winning organization is the box I'd want to check first. The opening is an administrative executive position, with both player development and business responsibilities. So I'm not sure if the baseball only candidates like Collins would be qualified. Later
  22. Judge just homered (#60) in the bottom of the 9th before Giancarlo Stanton later hit a grand slam and the MFYs beat the Bus 9-8. Later
  23. The numbers may or may not be gaudy, but McCutcheon is on my list of long time Mets tormentors. Later
  24. =kcmets post_id=108093 time=1663718189 user_id=53] LOB'n again? Check.
  25. I don't think we need a "getting closer to the record" thread yet. If shit happens, it happens. We can keep it here. Later
