  1. four outs and maybe three balls is a walk in the minors. Having three balls certainly would slow a player down. BA DA BING! Later
  2. They could probably use that presentation to attract both advertisers and investors (should that be necessary). Later
  3. Another home run for Ronny Mauricio. I'd like to see him get some work in the outfield. Later
  4. If Tim Locastro had even a modicum of power, he might have a good shot to come North with the team after ST. Right now, he has Tommy Pham looking over his shoulder. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: A bit ironically, strength training of shoulders has led not only to fewer rotator cuff injuries but also to increased velocity which has in turn led to more UCL tears. One injury traded for another. The human body is like a balloon, if you squeeze it in one place, you never know where a bulge is going to occur. Every Doctor I have said that to has agreed with it. 6. Edgy MD wrote: In the short time it took to decide this, however, Chad Fairchild's umpire team had left the playing field. So the two teams played baseball exactly the same way it's played in Heaven — with no umpires, calling their own balls and strikes and outs and safes. Somehow, the world kept turning. Showing how no umpire is better than Angel Hernandez. Later
  7. =bmfc1 post_id=118996 time=1677608686 user_id=73] We hope that Quintana got that outing out of the way.
  8. NBC news.com saying Former Mets minor league pitcher Matt Pobereyko - 31 Longtime minor league pitcher Matt Pobereyko, who had recently become a top hurler in Mexico, died suddenly near Chicago, officials and shocked loved ones said Monday. Pobereyko was 31. https://www.yahoo.com/news/former-mets-minor-leaguer-matt-220603459.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/news/former-mets-minor-leaguer-matt-220603459.html Later
  9. Did the announcers wonder (or even mention) whether Mets pitcher Hunter Parsons is related to one-time Mets pitcher Long(ball) Tom Parsons? Later
  10. Lefty Specialist wrote: I also loved Scherzer's cat-and-mouse game getting the hitter to step out, then holding the ball for a long time as the batter gets more and more uncomfortable in the box. "Wiley veteran." Later
  11. THEY LOST! THEY LOST! I knew they needed another hitter. This team stinks. Fire the General Manag..... oh, wait. Never mind. Later
  12. Took over from JD Davis in the "two syllable first name and two syllable last name name" roster spot . This makes it easy for the Ty-ler Na-Quin Clap, clap, clapclapclap cheer. Later
  13. =metirish post_id=118801 time=1677278066 user_id=72] Will the game be on SNY ?
  14. General all-purpose Mets sunshine thread. Bret Baty had two hits in an intrasquad game today. First game against players in enemy uniforms starts tomorrow. Later
  15. It was WINS. Keiter served as sports director at WINS–AM in New York from the mid-1950s to 1963 ...He was most remembered for his re-creations of San Francisco Giants games from 1958 to 1960, broadcast back to New York listeners in the first three seasons after the franchise's departure from the city.[5] His re-creations were so popular, many fans had no idea he was not covering the action live.[ https://archives.starbulletin.com/2008/03/03/features/flashback.htmlhttps://archives.starbulletin.com/2008/03/03/features/flashback.html Later
  16. When the New York teams moved West, Les Keiter used to re-create the games on NY radio. He would sit in a studio, read the pitch-by-pitch play off the ticker and then, with background sounds*, act like he was broadcasting the game live. (Ronald Reagan did this for Cubs games or a while.) He had to be done by 6:00 PM ET because the news was scheduled on the station(WINS?). One game I listened to, the game was lopsided and Les was taking his time. But SF scored a ton of runs to tie it in the bottom of the ninth and the game went into extra innings. Memory dims, but IIRC Les compressed several innings with something like six runs and twelve hits into ten minutes so the game could end on schedule. Later * = crowd noises, bat hitting the ball
  17. He can make a case that he wasn't let go based on performance. (From Metsmerized.com) Regan was the interim pitching coach for the Mets in 2019, taking over for the fired Dave Eiland on June 20, 2019. Under Regan, the Mets' pitching staff blossomed, improving their team ERA to 3.48 after recording a 4.88 ERA in the first half. Jacob deGrom won the Cy Young Award that season, too. You're not too old until you can't do it any more. Later
  18. Why SFN? What happened to the widely used SFG? Is there an American League team in San Francisco? I'm ok with most of them, but I'd substitute SOS* for LAN. Later * = Spawn of Satan
  19. The Brewers signed Justin Wilson. Later
  20. I look at the ages of the starters and the thin outfield and think they'll win fewer that the projections. Shit happens. 89-91 Later
  21. Terry Collins and Dave Wallace have been hired as consultants by the Marlins. I was at a meeting about protecting our company's proprietary information. Someone piped up, "Let them steal our business plan. It will set them back five years". But that isn't the case with Collins. He was one of the winningest of all Mets managers. I hope they just flounder. Later
  22. In order to further speed up the game, the commissioner will be updating the rulebook to reflect the SAVANNAH BANANAS rules https://thesavannahbananas.com/bananaball/https://thesavannahbananas.com/bananaball/ I'd laugh. But the way they're trying to mess with the game, who knows? Later
  23. And this is still http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2023/02/16/this-is-the-game-that-tim-built/the game that Tim built. Well said. Later
  24. Seems we all learned something from Tim. I remember his insight about the third baseman "guarding the line" late in the game. Tim noted that if the third baseman plays in, then he is cutting down the angle and protecting against balls hit to his left as well as his right. It made sense, and when he said it, I wondered why no-one else had ever realized that. RIP Later
  25. I'm sorry it took this long for the step out/batting glove time limit be a rule. It would have really fucked with Jeter's head. Later
