  1. Germán Márquez has been around since 2016. He pitched a few games in the minors this year. He was 0-4 with an ERA over 7. So, I'm naturally afraid. Later
  2. Too bad that all those other shortstops will be sitting in the dugouts at the All Star game, wishing they were Francisco Lindor. Later
  3. Edgy MD wrote: I don't know from the other thread. Really? You responded to it exactly 23 minutes before you posted that response. I'm at work and can't be bothered continuing this. Later
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Just moving the goalposts there. Nope. That was in my comment in the other thread: Whatever the cause, I need to see if he can pull himself out of the slump while feeling comfortable playing second base. That would be a true test in my mind before I would recall him. The posts for my goals are still the same. I haven't read anything about his defense, either. Later
  5. Mike won again last night, raising his record to 4-5. The numbers: 6.0IP 6H 2R 2ER 0BB 5K 1HR and he lowered his season's ERA to 5.94. Nothing spectacular, but showing some consistency over his last few starts. Later
  6. Have you read anything about how well Baty has been playing second base? I haven't noticed them turning many double plays. Later
  7. He was hitting close to .350 only a few weeks ago. I'd still like to see him turn the ship around before I recall him. There's no urgency to rush it. Later
  8. While he had been hitting for power and average at Syracuse, his average has been dropping like a prom dress - down to .277. I could be the result of trying to be noticed/ brought up and going only for power. Or it could be water seeking it's own level. (Another reason might be he's trying to look good to other teams as trade bait- he wants to get out of the organization) Whatever the cause, I need to see if he can pull himself out of the slump while feeling comfortable playing second base. That would be a true test in my mind before I would recall him. Later
  9. Who has nails left? Later
  10. This bullpen reminds of what our Army drill Sergeant yelled at us, "I could tell you to bend over, and half of you would do it wrong". Looking at our bullpen, he would have said " most of". Later
  11. I'm nervous. This lead isn't bullpen proof. Later
  12. Pitchers I adopt either get hurt (Szapucki and Ziegler) or lose their stuff(Vasil). I have room at the table due to Zeigler's injury, but I'll pass to protect Brandon's career. But if nobody else adopts him, I will. Later
  13. The no walks for Fujinami are encouraging because control of his 100 MPH stuff has been his biggest problem. Maybe it was the injury and that is all behind him. Later
  14. Vientos homers are becoming a regular occurrence. Me likey. Later

  16. I like the way Luis Torrens held down the fort in Alvarez' absence. He has contributed with his bat and thrown out 7 of 10 runners attempting to steal. If dark horse means "I didn't predict he would do that," he gets my vote. (Until the criteria change) Later
  17. The two runs the Mets scored off Skenes (in 7 IP) was the most of any major league team he's faced. We got his number. Later
  18. https://www.kcmets.net/CPF/WAS.png> MacKenzie Gore LHP (didn't she do porn in the mid 90's?) No. She sang "Its my party and I'll cry if I want to". Oh. Wait. Never mind. Later
  19. Lefty Specialist wrote: I'll be there in person with a work friend, playing hooky. My grandson will be there today with his day camp. Yesterday he was at the WNBA game at Mohegan Sun. Sounds like a good camp. I'll have him wave to you. Later
  20. The fact that they could have invited him to participate if he hadn't been an All-Star and he still demanded to be on the team leads me to guess that he either has an All Star bonus clause in his contract or his agent told him to do it to build his free agency resume. Or both. Later
  21. DGW does most of his work closer to central and southern Connecticut* than where they live (I'm guessing between Greenwich and Westport in Fairfield County), but I may be wrong. Later * = He photographs a lot of CIAC sports.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: =dgwphotography post_id=161396 time=1720184136 user_id=78] I first met Marc during fireworks night at Shea in 1990. It was the first night I tried shooting the fireworks there, and he was really helpful. His shot was of course on the yearbook cover the next season. Not to jump at a terribly tragic opening, but I hope they have the good sense to offer you the gig.
  23. Garrett to the 15 day IL, Orze optioned, Maton and Young brought up to the big club. Later
  24. Lefty Specialist wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Or ... they can opt not to use their bullpen, embracing their good fortune when their pitcher is throwing a one-hit shutout. But....don't major leaguers spontaneously combust when they reach 100 pitches? No, but manager assholes (I could have reversed that) seem to ignite at 90. Later
  25. Palmer probably still hasn't forgiven the Mets since 1969. In a nicer story, Pirate Rookie All-Star Paul Skenes said he wanted to meet Bob Uecker and I saw a picture on FB that showed they were introduced. Something about that makes me feel good. Later
