  2. It wasn't meant to be judgmental for or against. Just something that came to mind. Later
  3. The person selling that Mickey Mantle card he got for 50 cents for, say, $100,000 (A conservative guess) would have to pay up to 20% long term capital gains tax on the difference ($99,999.50). I'm not sure what the tax considerations are for reselling tickets (possibly at short term rates) if they honestly reported the sale. Later

Eliminating the DH is still the best option (for everything) Wasn't this the thread that led to a thread about no Mets starter would win 10 games? Later

  7. He (and Dick Allen) could have been a Met. They were available in that year's version of the Rule V Draft, but GM George Weiss didn't draft them. RIP, Luis Later

  9. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=169079 time=1725673688 user_id=68] Is Vientos even in the National conversation yet? Is the National media noticing this guy yet?
  10. Edgy MD wrote: If I hadn't already been a Spinners fan, that clip alone would have done it. Apparently the people in the audience aren't, because they look like they were painted on, nobody really grooving with the music. (One girl is moving to the beat) Later
  11. Frayed Knot wrote: One day in MLB qualifies you for the pension plan. I thought you had to spend a certain amount of days to get vested. OE, We're both right: To be eligible for the MLB pension, players must have played at least one game in the major leagues. Additionally, players must have at least 43 days of service in the major leagues to be eligible for a pension benefit. However, players who retired before 1980 are subject to different eligibility requirements. It appears he's vested. Later
  12. He played parts of several years in the majors. I wonder if he qualified for a pension. Later
  13. With Michael Mays being there, let's also make it Parents Week. Later
  14. =metirish post_id=174623 time=1728335716 user_id=72] My EX-friend Chris is going to MFY stadium , section 528 for $193
  15. =Gwreck post_id=174618 time=1728334616 user_id=56] There's at least one (or more) AL team that would rightfully have a problem with that.
  16. Sounds like this is a start for a new thread about the factors impacting ticket prices. Later

  18. No list of my favorite homer games would be complete without the one when not one, but TWO, future Mets all stars (or so we were told), Victor Diaz and Craig Brazell went deep. We thought we were looking at the future. Sigh. Later
  19. The game winner Jim Hickman hit to end Craig Anderson's losing streak. It caromed off the upper deck scoreboard into the lower left field stands. And I have it. The crowd was so sparse that it was just lying in the aisle as I was walking out, Later

  23. =Fman99 post_id=173994 time=1728068982 user_id=86] I will rant (again) about the stupidity of the post wild card winning champagne showers. You advanced and that's great, but the NFL teams don't do this after every playoff win. They just keep playing. To me there should be 3 occasions for the goggles and drenching - 1) clinched the playoff spot, 2) won the pennant, and 3) winning the World Series. All the other stuff is just in between stuff you need to do to get from 1 -> 2 and 2 -> 3.
