  1. =Centerfield post_id=177292 time=1729616628 user_id=65] Considering the Mets system has developed exactly one relief pitcher (Familia) in its entire history that can be compared to Diaz,
  2. If they non-tender him, does he lose his medical benefits? If so, I would hope he can pick up identical coverage under ERISA. Later
  3. Cerebrospinal fluid? That sounds like what they used to call water on the brain. Later
  4. ^ This. Peripheral numbers are nice, but his job is to close. I just don't know enough about who is out there to replace him. Later
  5. =TransMonk post_id=177243 time=1729545694 user_id=71] Santander's best OPS+ season is Pete's average season OPS+. They are almost exactly the same age and Santander won't be called on to run anywhere Pete can't. If it's about money, then, OK, I guess. But it shouldn't be about money this off-season if they are serious.
  6. =RealityChuck post_id=177247 time=1729551691 user_id=82] Keep him. Anyone who pisses off Derek Jeter can't be bad.
  7. =metirish post_id=177229 time=1729538943 user_id=72] =MFS62 post_id=177157 time=1729513890 user_id=60] If I could pick two, I'd go for Soto and Santander and let Pete walk (because he can't run any more) slowly out the door. Later
  8. From Amazin' Avenue: The 2024 team is gone. The 2025 team will be different, perhaps vastly so. But no, this team didn't really ever die. It's just moved on, and the moments it's left us and the organization as a whole will stay with us for a long long while. https://www.amazinavenue.com/2024/10/21/24275568/mets-2024-season-end-memories-gary-howie-2025-season-new-yorkhttps://www.amazinavenue.com/2024/10/21/24275568/mets-2024-season-end-memories-gary-howie-2025-season-new-york Well put. 9. I think the year showed, especially with the relievers, that you can't depend on short term free agency to build a staff. They had to do that because all of the top pitching prospects hit their ceilings after AA. I'll put my comments about what I'd like to see organizationally in 2025 in another thread. Later
  10. And, fire the RiSP hitting coach. Later
  11. I'd keep Quintana, even though he gives me agita when he pitches. Also, Stanek and Maton among the pitchers. I think Manaea may have shot his wad and won't be the same going forward. Certainly, sign Iglesias . Baty's gone. I'd prefer a cheaper Alonso option as a power hitter, like a Santander. Maybe: Winker (depending on what else they do in the outfield (Soto). Severino and Martinez? bye bye. Maybe the MFY fans were right when they said you can't depend on him. I'd prefer not having to find out for another year. Bader and Smith? nope And what the heck is a Paul Blackburn, anyhow? good bye And I'd personally drive Ottavino to the airport when he goes elsewhere. Later

  13. A let down. I thought they had something special going. The series exposed the team weaknesses that, with a LOT of money coming off the books, I'm sure they'll address in the off season. As we used to say in Brooklyn, "Wait 'till next year". Later
  14. In a prior poll, I voted WS champ or bust. https://phpbb3.leaptoad.com/mets/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33750https://phpbb3.leaptoad.com/mets/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33750 I haven't moved from that position. As Brandon Nimmo said the other day, "one win at a time". Later
  15. Lefty Specialist wrote: =batmagadanleadoff post_id=176004 time=1729030252 user_id=68] I'm certain that the motherfuckers who voted for the first option aren't choosing the Mets over Kamala. For them, the choice is even easier. They'd prefer that Hitler wins next month. Russian trolls.
  16. The AL really sucks, doesn't it? Later
  17. Blowouts? How about three? In games 2,3 and 6 of the 1960 World Series, the MFYs outscored the Pirates by a combined score of 38-3. 16-3, 10-0 and 12-0. The Pirates won the series in 7 games. Jayson Stark writes for a NY paper. He (or his editor) should have known that. And if he did, maybe he wouldn't have insulted us with that article. He must get paid by the word. If he wanted to write about blowouts, he might at least have mentioned that year. Later
  18. Edgy MD wrote: When Mike Elias took over the Orioles in 2018, he let go of almost the entire scouting staff, but kept Guthrie. I've read that when Marge Schott took over the Reds she wanted to fire the entire scouting staff because "All they do is watch baseball games". Later
  19. =Methead post_id=176884 time=1729340651 user_id=61] It was the golden age of saxophones in pop music. Where did they all go? They're not extinct... they're roaming free out there somewhere. I say we track them down and make a documentary.

  25. Edgy MD wrote: At the age I'm at, every day is starting to feel like a potential elimination. No point in giving myself a stroke over it — though I'm sure my pressure will rise (and my butt will squeak) if the game is tight in the late innings. Relax, kid, and enjoy it. Later
