  1. Holy shit. Baez to bat with 2 out and tying run on 3rd

A Boy Named Seo wrote: Gary talking about the bigger picture of the insular nature of social media and twitter, the constant, toxic vitriol that has become commonplace, and how players can easily form an us-against-the-world viewpoint when online or zoom interactions become the norm during covid times. I think an extension of that is selfish entitlement we see more and more of every day, anonymous people on the internet spouting vile shit they'd never say in public (but now, sadly, they do). The world sucks. This is precisely the kind of situation that I argued with Ceetar about last year when he basically dismissed the media ban as insignificant or a net positive. And why I'm sensitive to casual and lazy remarks about Peter Gammons or whatever. It's crucial to our understanding. Of course the previous 4 years demonstrated as much wrt Trump's pretend dismissal of the media that took hold with stupid followers in this country.
  3. Villar is the Mets Player of the Year. Dark Horse winner, I think he's second in HIS, might wind up with the most at bats, talented but inept
  4. Why didn't the Fish switch the pitcher to hit further "up" the order when the leadoff and second guys in the lineup had to be switched out,?
  5. Of things that don't sit well with me this year, Baez' remarks barely make the list. Dumb jocks who say dumb things will always be a part of every Mets team. Not every Mets team had its keystone combo duke it out in the dugout, bullshit about why it happened, and get away with it. Not every Mets team has its GM suggest they aren't listening to the advice of coaches or trainers and get away with it.
  6. =G-Fafif post_id=60421 time=1618170265 user_id=55] The suspended game will be scheduled for nine innings. The scheduled game that night will be seven innings.
  7. Ihe org saw Mookie coming, moving mazzilli.
  8. It would be a funnier story if a guy like Mazeika or Megill gave the fans the finger. FANS CAN SUCK MY NUTS, RESERVE CATCHER SAYS
  9. Howie is taking the rest of the year off to deal with the ongoing health issues he's had.
  10. Look I've supported the team for 50 years. I boo sometimes. I booed the other night when we went down feebly to a parade shitty giants pitchers & a guy didn't cover first base. It's reactive and it expresses my displeasure at the effort-- very different than the numbnuts who *greet* a player with boos. Those fans suck. I am a very good Mets fan. This sounds so (ahem) bearish. you bet it is.
  11. I guess I should listen to the context of those remarks to better understand them. I was on the road yesterday and missed most of the game. It would seem to be a kind of not so funny joke with a kernel of truth to it. I'll bet the players are unhappy. I also understand they didn't hire Baez for his brains. He's getting dfaed over this unless he doubles down Sandy's message seems appropriate inasmuch as he recognized what red meat this would be for a press that hasn't had the kind of access to get anything so juicy in years and a narrative to explain the club's dysfunction. Getting harder and harder to imagine Luis survives. The team might also do well to acquire a veteran or two who "know how to play the game the right way." The ballplayers haven't been held to account, and would seem to care more about what color the jersey is, or how they do in meaningless skills competitions than the long season.
  12. By got this, I meant, got shit
  13. =MFS62 post_id=75705 time=1630096348 user_id=60] Yes. And weren't we supposed to be forewarned when a link was to a paywall protected site? Later
  14. I was. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that is mine. Just because one is entitled to an opinion doesn't mean that the opinion is well thought-out, defensible or informed; nor does it follow that dropping one whenever you feel like is going to be received as appropriate or relevant for the discussion at hand. How many threads take a stupid wrong turn precisely because of this? You see a link to an article about Brent Strom that I'm certain you didn't read with the words "Peter Gammons" in it -- and suddenly feel as though this the right time and place to take some cheap shot at Peter Gammons, then defend it by saying you're entitled to your opinion?
  15. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: And you're taking a shot at Peter Gammons, why? I think I mentioned this before. I used to read his stuff back in the day, when he moved from a beat writer covering the Red Sox to a national audience. And then I realized the he knew, in this order: 1) The Red Sox 2) The American League 3) The National League 4) The New York Mets. Nothing he wrote about the Mets seemed true to me. His "insights" were general knowledge if you read the NY papers, but must have sounded original to his national audience. None of his predictions about deals they were going to make came true. So I began to question how well he knew anything else. This article was about an ex-Met, so I considered it through that prism. Hey, I used to like to read Dick Young, who is vilified by many Mets fans. Each to his own. Later Yeah, talk about flawed insights.
  16. And you're taking a shot at Peter Gammons, why?
  17. I don't think that massive hr was fair
  18. Hustle double now for Baez, and he stays attached to the bag
