Last time we play the Braves untill July 28th. Plenty of Phillies coming up though, who are the current 2nd place team and after today will be the team to focus on! How great is it to say that, going forward into the summer the two top NL East squads do not include the Barfs!

You know its funny, in the 2003 and early on in 2004 the Boston media was harping about how the clubhouse was really a 22+1+1+1 team with ManRam, Nomar and Pedro as the "Islands onto themselves" in stories that were printed obstentibly to grease the skids for Nomar's and Pedro's eventual leaving and the potential ManRam leaving Well its funny looking at the 25 Mets in their official 2006 MLB mug shots and Pedro is the only one A) in a different hat and not facing directly into the camera! I guess Pedro really is a 24 and one guy! HAHAHA!

This is a pretty darn good card, and you can get it pretty cheap. Really, thanks to overproduction of base sets and the High End craze of paraell (sp) sets and memorabillia/autograph cards and Lord knows what else, you can find this first apperance in a Topps base set of one of the top 5 catchers of all time as well as a borderline HOFer Also an ex-Met for 4 games before becoming another nameless and faceless backup backstop and a fellow drafted by the Yanks who never played a single MLB game!

Funny radio ad after for whatever hospital was the Mets official hospital at the time was of opponents saying "Ah games over Franco's in" after a recent return of Franco (this is mid 90's not the TJ surgery) funnier than the opponents saying game over was that the ad made Franco out to be a fireballer! It was so riddiculous that my Dad couldn't believe what they were saying about Franco "He's not a fastball pitcher!"

So some kid, who clearly was a hobby follower, comes in, sees the card and asks if the price is right, dumb clerk says yes it is, and viola a 10 dollar Ryan rookie card! Kid then proceeds to trade the card for a Seaver rookie and some other vintage high end stuff so he couldn't even return the card!

Two of those years were 100 + years, 1972 followed two straight 81 win seasons in a horrid division

Like JD said, you knew a Stifler in High School, you knew guys like Jim, Kevin, Oz and Finch, even in different social groups the templates of the characters are pretty much indentifiable I do think that it got overhyped in the ensuing years based on its popularity, and maybe its all the Josh Wheedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Fire Fly/Serenity) fan boys that helped the popularity of the Band Camp line as Alyson Hannigan was Willow on Buffy, and actually had a bit of the same story arc of a geek with an underlying wildness to her. And as well the hotness, or percieved hotness thanks to mass media and the likes of Howard Stern/Opie & Anthony of Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth and Mena Suvari
