  1. Its like the whole MLB is filled with Joe McEwings!
  2. seawolf17 wrote: ="cooby"]2 questions: When did Tona Pena become a Yankee? When did Lee Mazzilli rebecome a Yankee? (1) Don't know. (2) Right after the O's dumped him. 1) When Joe Girardi moved to Miami

  4. Better hope Sunday I get a good clear shot of that apple for evening game KABOOMS
  5. Still trying to remember exactly when I sort of dropped off the Internet Met Community and jumped back on, or at least the Forum portion of it. Wasn't it right around that time, or maybe October that the Original MOFO went "rudderless" Did I post anywhere about my interview with Ed Coleman anywhere around here? (or at least the old MOFO) Hmmm Trying to remeber... That was the last thing, I think, I ever wrote for pay, a local newspaper in the town Eddie C calls home. Damn, I'm almost 30 and it seems the last 10 years are a jumbled mess...
  6. ="Johnny Dickshot"]I always considered 9/11 to be the real father of the CPF. People just got too freaked out round then. I can see that.
  7. Can't believe SK hasn't arrived yet with this:
  8. Its the Friday of the first Subway Series and I'm the only guy in Overtime's IGT? I even STARTED the IGT DURING THE GAME! Tell me its not crickets over there at over time! HAHAHAHA!
  9. Wow, doing the cycle here! HA!
  10. Can someone fully explain the whole Fourm Wars and the splits of the Original MetsOnline Fan Fourm? I kind of had a vacation from the Mets Fans Internet Community around that time. I knew the original MetsOnline.net was closing its doors thanks to MLB.com's zapping of exhaustive fan sites, and I may have signed up here and at Joe McDonald's NY Sports Day's MOFO around the 2001-2002 offseason but didn't really have much to post about or lurk about! Funny I found it more interesting to be on the AOL Listserv Mets List than on a message board. Well that is before everyone started hating on me because I would take ideas from sports radio and newspapers (fully credited) that would be seen as stupid comments and ideas. Heh, I think I was the Bret Sabermetric of that forum, although there was a guy named Joe Hersfield that was even more hated than Bret/Sal has ever been! Steve
  11. Still a team record, and along with the 1998 Yankees the last two teams to go over the 105 mark and win the World Series Just wanted to say that with my 108th post Sure the rings say 116 for the 4 playoff wins, but 108 is such a nice round number!

  13. Farmer Ted wrote: We need a guest appearance by 52. Now THAT would be intriguing. I tried reaching out to him, he just lurked and never signed up. I saw him on AOL IM and said I referred to him in a post about that Mets Fans Hall Of Fame they did back in the early 80's that DIDN'T include the Original Sign Guy. Well he read it, and I guess didn't feel the need to sign up Ah well...
  14. If this was a different forum, this thread would get, the Short Bus!
  15. Heh, maybe Cleon is really JD in disguise, I mean how many people actually know Cleon Jones wore 11?
  16. Hillbilly wrote: If not maybe they could do some kind of cool 2 statium day night double header...never mind I was at the first rainout that neccessitated that infamous game. Funny thing is that I was traveling with a college buddy and was going to meet other college buds there. One of them lived out in Far Rockaways and his car broke down, just as we were about to park at Yankee Stadium. So we head over to pick him up and we get there as the deluge is underway. We see Ventura do his best Rick Dempsey act, game gets called and we dropped off our friend back in the Far Rockaways. In other words, we passed Shea Stadium 4 times that night, Yankee Stadium 3 times and saw no baseball!
  17. ="soupcan"]="seawolf17"] Dude... my uncle, one of the guys for whom I named my newborn son, designed that logo. Oops. Does he have the '89 revised yearbook with that logo on the cover? That would be a cool thing to have if he designed it. That was a contest held by the team wasn't it? Fans sent in designs and they picked the best one I think. To be fair though it wasn't so much the design of the logo I hated (although I did find it a bit unimaginitive) but the way it was produced. It just looked like it had been drawn badly I also didn't like that it represented a kind of a bragging about...what? Best record in baseball since 1984? So? How many World Series did you win? Oh, just one? Shut up then. Remember the Cincinnati Reds in '81? They had the best record in the NL that year but because of the strike and the split season they didn't make the playoffs. They made a lot of noise about having the best record. I think they even hung a banner at Riverfront the next year proclaiming 'Best Record In Baseball 1981'. Who cares? Apparantly every one expect the Yankees! Don't forget this is the same franchise where THE MASCOT WAS A JACK ASS!-Don LaGreca 1050 WFAN Radio on one particularly loud tirade about some "minor league" thing we were doing

Willets Point wrote: Usually its described as such by "Guy Talk" (Stern, O&A, Jim Rome, Ferrall, Pro-Wrestling fourms, ect) radio stations/message boards/ect Hmm...now we know what they're looking at when watching porn. Seriously, the naked male body is a frightening thing. It's a blessing that not all women are lesbians as a result. Although porn would be a lot more interesting if they were. That moustache style reminds me of Burt Reynolds more than anyone else. True, no clue why its not called "The Burt" or "The Magnum" (Magnum PI's Tom Selleck) as they have much, much more mass appeal, and noterity, than a Ron Jeremy no matter how much the former Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy looks like him! Heh, funny thing about that actually, was on a Jim Rome message board and posted a UMDB link to the game in 1994 that was featured on the cover of SI as Kyle "Likes To Fight Guy" Farnsworth joined the Braves and I wanted to do a "Welcome to Fight Club" thing for Farnsworth. Someone pointed out Jeff Kent's Porn Stache in Kent's mugshot by calling him "Porn Stache" and at first I thought the poster was commenting that someone on the Mets was known to have had a pretty large porn stash! Took me a while to realize he was reffering to Jeff Kent's mustache!
  19. Willets Point wrote: I think if I watched porn I wouldn't be looking at the men. LOL! Just a phrase that entered the popular jargon to describe those short cropped and bushy mustaches that were popular in the 70's and 80's Usually its described as such by "Guy Talk" (Stern, O&A, Jim Rome, Ferrall, Pro-Wrestling fourms, ect) radio stations/message boards/ect Why would they label it as such when that actually was a popular style outside of the porn industry, who knows...
  20. Willets Point wrote: I never get the porn stasche joke. The mustache Franco, Jeff Kent, Raffy Palmerio, ect sport looks quite the way many porn stars (Ron Jeremy) wear their mustaches Cops also, but mostly to the mass population its known as a Porn Stache
  21. Well that stunk. Billy Taylor... Billy FN TAYLOR!
