Gwreck wrote: ="SteveJRogers"]Bit of a non-sequitor of a Paul Lo Duca chant going on while the Marlins were hitting It was part of a roll-call chant that seemed to be coming from the Loge in left field. Attention morons: wrong team, wrong stadium. Hows about we get our own freakin' tradition. Addendum: the catcher's not going to respond to roll-call. He's kind of busy, you know? Geez, they did that last year also. Plus the fact that Lo Duca is an ADMITTED Met fan, he's not going to respond to some lame rip-off of a MFY fan tradition
  2. Bit of a non-sequitor of a Paul Lo Duca chant going on while the Marlins were hitting
  3. Heh, thats the way you shut your manager up after he decided that you'd be a human pinata the inning before!
  4. The old record: The new record
  5. Man Vargas really is deep in the doghouse with Girardi!
  6. Here is Owens from last night Gotta get one today to get it in the "Blue Cap" rule
  7. Looks like Pelfrey is doing his best MJ here, hope its good for Yance when he gets back:
  8. Woodward 2.5 Nady 2.5 Owens 1 Oliver 1 Wright 1 Franco 1 Reyes 1
  9. May this be Lima's LAST battleground!
  10. ="KC"]You looked younger in your other pictures.
  11. ="Nymr83"]Willis hits a grand slam. Lima is getting rocked (again) while Aaron Heilman wastes away in the bullpen. Jose Lima, you are a truely pathetic excuse for a one time 20 game winner. You ARE the weakest link! GOODBYE!
  12. TransMonk wrote: This lineup sucks. This is a 2005 lineup. Franco, Woody, Marrero and Castro against one of the top pitchers in the league. Oh, and Lima's pitching. I feel dirty. Two straight innings that the Mets get the leadoff batter to 2nd with no outs but can't score a run. The hell with 2005, this is the 2003-2004 lineup! This is Danny Garcia: 2nd baseman bad, this is Ty Wiggington at 3rd bad. Well, at least I'm not going back to Kelly Stinnett, regular catcher!
  13. MFS62 wrote: How about Jose Lima? Anyone wanting to attack Selig if he selects Barroid or the Fat Bastard, bat-tossing, motherf..... (oops , kiddies may be present) will have to knock me out of the way first. My ballisticity would be the envy of a North Korean rocketeer. Later Now there is no need. It is an Astro though, your reigning NLCS MVP, Roy Oswalt
  14. Elster88 wrote: ]Especially against the Yankees with the hated rivalry we have. Weird. Many other players and coachs have insisted that there is no rivaly. As stated, Lo Duca is a fan, fans think differently than players who grew up in different states, parts of states Also think of it this way, the players (and coaches, managers and others) kind of lose their fandom somehow, somewhere along the way. Baseball became their job and "hatred" of other teams just doesn't mean as much. The Players Union and free agency (with players going from one team to another "frequently-er" than in the past) also have something to do with the fraternity of baseball players shattering team "rivals" and rendering guys like Bob Gibson, who never talked to an NL All Star teamate, obsolete
  15. Heh, alot of times its more about the manager taking one for the team and deflecting the abuse for the player in question so he (Weaver, Piniella, ect) will go out of his way to be an asshole You know, there are places on the Net that wonders while WWSB doesn't use the same approach shown here by Joe (or two other managers WWSB played for, Sweet Lou and Billy)
  16. Hate to jump on you MFS62, but I've got Mickey Mantle over here for a few words: ME: So Mick, what are your thoughts on the Florida Marlins? MICKEY: My thoughts are the same as Casey's! Yeah yeah, easy joke I know... Steve
  17. Did the Mets, or someone really have a situation where they called up the wrong guy? I.e. they meant to call someone up, but a different guy came up instead And I'm not talking about jokes, i.e. Duquette meant CARLOS Zambrano, not VICTOR Zambrano
  18. metirish wrote: No Henry is not white, at least the fella Howie said was Owens throwing in the pen was not white.... Jose Lima. Probably a case of a quick look at the monitor or something
  19. metirish wrote: Dumb question from me, if like Pedro you are an All-Star but don't go do you still get that All-Star tag on your resume? Yup While UMDB only counts Mets who actually appeared in the game, the Met media guides routinely always lists players selected and eventually replaced due to injury or whatever, so it stays on your record as a selection. You could even go there, come out and doff your cap if you wish, though Pedro won't
  20. KC wrote: Right, and why go to an all-star game when you can go to an island and see your friends and family? Sitting under the mango tree During the All Star Break Sitting under the mango tree During the All Star Break Got an injury and pitching crappy But thats okay cause Mets are happy So Pedro got a few days hanging with Papi Sitting under the mango tree During the All Star Break Sitting under the mango tree During the All Star Break!
  21. SI Metman wrote: ="SteveJRogers"]SI Metman wrote: I'm betting Wagner could be named as Pedro's replacement. Eh, I'd say no. I'm joking, but I wouldn't be surprised if the higher ups pressure Garner into picking Clemens, or Bonds even to replace a pitcher Not if they want a revolt from 95% of their fanbase. Good point, just a conspiracy theory
  22. Probably want another arm in the pen untill Pelfrey pitches, or they might be auditioning Owens

  24. I don't see the vote but Chris Capuano finished 2nd in the NL, Abreu and Wagner follwed. Francisco Liriano and Travis Hafner were 2nd and 3rd in the AL
