  1. 5 is Dallas Green
  2. 4 I'm thinking the other Pedro Martinez, but I don't think the HOFer has ever stated a religious preference publicly, let alone one that uses The Holy Bible as its Sacred Texts.
  3. 5 would be Alex Trevino
  4. #2? Original Cablevision booth guy Art Shamsky? I mean the other two ex-Met hitters who have been in the actual booth (not counting pre/post game show anchors) are Keith and Rusty…both are Met Hall of Famers!
  5. 2 is Larry Bowa I'm guessing 4 is Doug Sisk 3 I'm guessing Alex Ochoa? Though I'd hardly call Bonilla and the MLer sent for him and Buford a “good man” in the way the question is phrased. 5 Not a clue, only native NYer that really fits the “poem's” lines is Marcus Stroman
  6. 1 Chris Woodward 2 I'm thinking Clem Labine but I thought he was a little earlier than ‘65
  7. 5 is Danny Frisella
  8. YouTube, and trying to capture an image from this site is not being my friend, so here is, still a Met, Tom Seaver on the 12/3/1983 episode of Saturday Night Live as part of the cold open for The Smothers Brothers' episode http://www.snlarchives.net/Guests/?860http://www.snlarchives.net/Guests/?860 http://www.snlarchives.net/Episodes/?19831203 http://www.snlarchives.net/Episodes/?19831203

I'd wager that Wagner will get a number retirement in Houston, he is already in the ‘Stros Hall. Sheffield, among those trending as being IN according to revealed ballot tracking, is in the McGriff category where I'd imagine he'll get the blank cap treatment. I can see the Braves putting him into their team HOF though. Ditto the Fish if they ever create one.
  10. Going to be some solid celebrations in Arlington this summer! Though Beltre's number was retired upon his actual retirement. Ditto Helton's and Mauer's
  11. #1 is part of the Gor-fax question
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Andruw Jones in the Post-Season: .273 / .363 / .433 // .796 in 279 plate appearances. That's nothing to sneeze at. Carlos Beltrán in the Post-Season: .307 / .412 / .609 // 1.021 in 256 plate appearances. How does this stunning performance get buried in Carlos' story? Yeah, we have a lot more in post-season opportunities these days, and even though some of it is against lesser competition, the greater volume should be expected to normalize high slash numbers. But Beltrán put up post-season numbers that Reggie Jackson wishes he had. He also went 11-for-11 in stolen-base attempts. I'm guessing it's the fall out from his last postseason run that is keeping Beltran from the Hall!
  13. Edgy MD wrote: And 4 is Kelvin Torve. I wish I wish this wasn't so much a litany of players saying that they stink. The very nature of recalling more obscure personages is that they are players who didn't stick. Probably explains why these didn't come from the CPF archives
  14. 5 is Chris Woodward
  15. 2 is Tom Gorman
  16. =metirish post_id=143756 time=1703783926 user_id=72] Of course we don't care , I'm just posting some of the more dumb and nonsensical Mets tweets

  19. =metsmarathon post_id=143328 time=1703097610 user_id=83] and evan longoria is the last remaining active original ray. maybe david price too if he hasn't officially retired yet.
  20. Tom Grieve looked a little more like Fred Gwynne than Jon Matlack!
  21. [CROSSOUT]Mickey Lolich[/CROSSOUT] Walt Terrell… for 4…could still be Lolich but just recalled Terrell's HR moment, Joe McEwing for 5
  22. For starters I made the team because had a friend in a high place, who wasn't, and still isn't thought of in high regard around Metdom. To say nothing about how I performed when I had a chance to play!" I'm surprised no one over there gave me shit over the awkward phrasing that should be “I had a friend…” Anyway Tom Grieve for #3 Bill Almond for #5?
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: That's pretty much what I mean. I don't know if this is an old statement or a new one; one that was part of an ongoing discussion or answer to a direct question. Or is it simply Reggie spouting off in a way to make himself look better by suggesting that the exclusive club he belongs to really should be even more exclusive by downgrading the accomplishments of five guys, four of whom can no longer respond to his statements. A little Google Fu suggests the quote in the tweet goes back to 2012 Which is now even more of a head scratcher since Rice was inducted in 2009…and most likely it wasn't a conversation on Andre Dawson's merits as he got inducted the next year… https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/reggie-jackson-questions-whether-jim-rice-kirby-puckett-gary-carter-belong-in-hall-of-fame/https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/reggie-jackson-questions-whether-jim-rice-kirby-puckett-gary-carter-belong-in-hall-of-fame/ Oh, okay, just relaying some sort of interview piece Jackson did with Sports Illustrated around the time the linked article came out.
  24. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Rogers' clue doesn't rhyme, I think we should throw it out Fairly certain that's taken from a thread on another forum that doesn't use rhyming schemes
  25. 4 is Billy Beane
