  1. ]Livin on a Prayer, Bon Jovi; Im a Believer, The Monkees; Movin Out, Billy Joel; Sweet Caroline, Neil Diamond; and Build Me Up Buttercup, The Foundations. UGH, UGH, UGH, UGH, UGH! I'm shocked that the internet voting, other than the Astley prank going to the extremes, was so predictable. Even the song that they are TRYING to replace made it! Who the hell are voting in these polls? Corn ball tourists from the mid-west who don't know any better because of the spoonfed mass pop culture?
  2. Live from Stout having some fun Nice seeing Johan get a hit
  3. ="Nymr83"]i don't like it. have a plaque, have a sign, have anything BUT a jersey with a number on it. retired jerseys with numbers should only be for players who wore that number. Thats what they are going to do, I quoted retired numbers because that is where it is going up next to. Sorry for the confusion.
  4. Well it's a good thing, since this is pretty much all that they have of Bill Shea at Shea right now Just his HOF bust and a picture of him in the lobby at one of his opening day appearances. And it's about time as well!
  5. A Shea "retired number" will join 37, 14, 41 and 42 at Shea this year and Citi Field next year

Back in 1998 I did this a few nights listening to MLB.com's radio package of Cubbie games during the stretch run and kept hearing George Strait singing a song he "wrote" for I think Chevy trucks. Can't say they ever hit the NYC market where I wonder how many people would know who Mr. Strait is! I mean here you might get more people who know George Jones than George Strait!
  7. LOL Yeah you can give me all the ribbing on Sunday at Stout Listening to Rangers vs Icelanders instead really couldn't care less about the MFY game Just here for memorabilla and hanging with the old man!
  8. Game called Too bad right now at MFY stadium yet listening to WFAN
  9. Valadius wrote: You know, I have been wondering if there was some kind of loophole that allows for pitchers to come back after leaving the mound. The 1986 Mets had a great example of this, July 22nd against the Reds One crazy night in Cincy that had Orosco and McDowell go from the mound and the outfield a few times due to depleted bench and bullpen.

  11. Not to read into what another poster was thinking, but I'm sure they meant in the snowball effect where the pitcher will blow the lead, and then give up another couple of runs to put the game effectively out of reach for the team's offense in the bottom half of the inning. It's bad enough that the pitcher gives up the go ahead run, but just couldn't nail the final out(s) and keeps giving up runs to the point where it would be difficult for the team to come back to eventually tie or win the game. I think that is what "epic meltdown" meant. I forget exactly who it was that said it though, but again it was probably more out of Yankee-Hate than actual observation of Chamberlain's makeup and demeanor on the mound.

Nymr83 wrote: ="metirish"]Mike Hampton got injured warming up in the bullpen for tonight's start against the Pirates, I'm watching the game on MLB Extra Innings and they were talking about it then showed what happened, throwing a pitch he strained his left pectoral muscle, it literally happened minutes from taking the mound. he's gotta be up there on the question of "worst contract ever" All because he preferred the Denver school districts! That has to rank up there with biggest BS reasons for signing a contract as well when all is said and done (hello, Westchester County schools? CT? Or pick your favorite top notch school district in the areas outside any other big league city).

Heh, I forget where exactly, but on some board, clearly a Yankee-hating board (I don't think it was here) I read a post where the poster claimed he saw a lot of Armando Benitez in Chamberlain. I'm sure that was in the he is too excitable and could lead to some epic meltdowns once things go bad for him.
  15. I'm there. Though I may need to talk to both you and Matthew in official puesdo journalism fashion if there is time.
  16. TIME TO MARCH ON ATLANTA!
  17. Oh, BTW, Sleep with one eye open...

  23. 11-0 from Schneider. And here is a Man named Brady!
  24. themetfairy wrote: ="SteveJRogers"]Web Gem right there. That was a gorgeous play! Mr. Wright dove after a ball, made a great play to keep it from becoming an extra base hit, jumped up, turned, and threw the ball to first just in time to get the out. Just beautiful! Its going to be so much fun watching him and Reyes at the ASG at MFY Stadium. Alot better than just Stearns and a Met in a Red jersey in '77!
  25. metirish wrote: That Jeter reference reminds me, I was flipping tonight and landed on YES, kay was telling how even though Bob Shepard can't be at the ball park to introduce the players Jeter has instructed the yankees that a recording of Shepard will introduce his AB's and so on...."Because only you can introduce me"...I fucking kid you not.. Heh, too be fair though it is Jeter's way of honoring a legend.
