  1. Duaner, WTF? This is terrible.
  2. Good job by Pedro minimizing damage after the 3 singles to start the 7th but we need HITS and RUNS. Rally!
  3. They may not lead the league in wins, but I'm pretty sure the Marlins lead the league in crooked-hat mugshots: Dontrelle: Hanley Ramirez: Jacobs: Cabrera: Randy Messenger:
  4. 12 in a row for Pedro. 9 Ks now. Johnson's up to 92 pitches, maybe he's getting tired. Big bats coming up, time to break this tie.
  5. Don't jinx it, dammit! The MFYs just took the lead. Meanwhile both Pedro and Johnson have retired 9 in a row.
  6. OOTS Update: Braves beat Cubs in the 9th on a throwing error. Carlos Zambrano took a no-hitter into the 7th. Brewers 4, Phillies 3 top 6th. Royals, who've lost 13 in a row, are up 3-1 over the MFYs, bottom 6. Tampa 1, Boston 0, bottom 4. Kazmir vs. David Wells (back from DL)
  7. Pedro has given up a homer in all but 2 of his starts this year, 9 HR total now given up this year. Ouch.
  8. Some extra EEE: Marlins Bench 'n Bullpen Report: Alfrezo Amezaga ® is a utility, play-anywhere type. Short is the primary position. Wes Helms ® is a backup 1B/3B who credits Julio Franco with teaching him how to properly prepare as a part-time player. He's got some pop but strikes out a bunch. Chris Aguila ® backup outfielder, career minor-league type who can't hit much in the bigs. Joe Borchard (S) started the year with the Mariners but was acquired in early May. He started a bunch in rightfield but is riding the pine lately because he's not hitting and the Marlins have high hopes for Abercrombie. Matt Treanor ® backup catcher and the last man off the bench. Can't hit for sh*t. 0-3-.228 this year. Dontrelle Willis (L) has pinch hit quite a bit, considering, over the past 2 years. 1-1 this year. Joe Borowski ® is the closer, such as it is for a team that doesn't give a lot of save opportunities. Borowski is 5 for 6 in save chances but has a 4.79 ERA with 1.79 WHIP. His splitter apparently makes him more effective against lefties than righties, usually. Matt Herges ® is one of the primary setup guys, and spent a year as the not-so-good closer of the Giants in 2004. Had a couple of good years with LA in 00-01 but his 5.40 ERA this year is more representative of recent performance. Yusmerio Petit ® made his ML debut on May 14. He's had 3 good relief outings and one in which he gave up a walk-off homer to the only batter he faced. Todd Wellemeyer ® isn't anything better than average really, but has been one of the better relievers so far for Florida. 4.38 ERA, 1.64 WHIP. Randy Messenger ® has been ok, primarly because he's kept his walks down (only 3 in 18.1 Innings). Throws strikes but will sometimes give up the longball. Renyel Pinto (L) is a rookie who just got called up. Logan Kensing ® has been hit pretty hard since getting called up 2 weeks ago. 6.23 ERA
  9. The first year after the fire sale isn't ever pretty. After winning the series in '97 and being dismantled, the '98 Marlins went 54-108. This time, the results look pretty similar (on pace to go 50-112). Of course, with 2 championships in 13 years of existence, plus still having two of the best young stars in baseball (Dontrelle and Cabrera) it's tough to feel sorry for the Marlins' fans, if you should happen to run across any one of the 15 in existence. Previous Matchup: Mets swept a rain-shortened series on the first weekend of the season. Ex-Marlin Factor: Ramon Castro Cliff Floyd Paul LoDuca Carlos Delgado Darren Oliver
  10. Mets Lineup revised 7:05 PM EDT Reyes SS LoDuca C Beltran CF Delgado 1B Floyd LF Nady RF Valentin 3B Matsui 2B Pedro P

  12. We don't want to be unprepared if Chelly makes it to the 25-wife roster!
  13. That's Chelley Williams in the middle. (Nicole Vogelsong on the left, Emily Wells on the right)
  14. Reyes 3 Gonzalez 1.5
  15. Orlando Hernandez announced as Sunday's starting pitcher.
  16. Orlando Hernandez announced as Sunday's starting pitcher.
  17. The reason we want to win Pedro/Glavine games is because they usually are good efforts from our starting pitchers. Got a good effort from our starter today too. Sure, 2 of 3 is fine but a sweep can't be undervalued, especially going into a series which we should also sweep.
  18. Elster88 wrote: Let Kaz hit. This game is not THAT important. Let him swing. ?? I think it's pretty important. It might not be a huge upgrade to have Franco bat but it's still something, and not a problem to put Woodward in for the rest of the game.
  19. Floyd on with the tying run and the Phillies go to Gordon. Pinch-hit for Matsui?
  20. We're gonna need to rally to get him the chance for the cycle.
  21. They got 40,000+ for a weekday afternoon game? Damn.
  22. Not that it necessarily would've changed things but this result is making me angry with the current strategizing. Thankfully we have the nice DP to end it.
