  1. I like the Royals idea, but my AL votes tend to go to: 1. Ichiro (trailing Damon for 3rd place) 2. Mark Loretta (deserving, and he trails Cano for the lead) 3. Miguel Tejada (obvious reasons) 4. Mike Lowell (same thing).
  2. Reyes is in 3rd in the close race. Renteria between him and Eckstein. Beltran is in 2nd place, but the top 3 outfield spots get to start, hence measuring him versus the 4th place vote-getter. Beltran is 83,506 votes behind Andruw Jones for the overall outfield lead. Delgado and Wright are in 2nd place also. Online voting ends Midnight EDT on June 29. Ends at the ballparks on June 24.

  4. Only caught it because of the Griffey-at-Exhibition stadium thing. Had completely forgotten that SkyDome opened in mid-season. Then saw the McGriff thing and was surpised to not see it there. I'd somehow missed that feature of Retrosheet before. Thanks.
  5. The McGriff list has only 41 stadiums. I think it's missing Exhibition Stadium and Comerica Park.
  6. Apparently the ump was walking towards Reyes as they exchanged words after the K. Not a good idea. This is why people hate umpires. Plant your ass back behind the plate Vanover.
  7. I believe that was Alay Soler's first big league hit -- for real, this time -- after it was taken away last game on that hit-changed-to-error scoring decision.
  8. Wilson singles. It's been more than 2 years since the last no-hitter (it was Johnson's perfect game in May '04).
  9. Bust outta that slump, Carlos!
  10. Nationals rally and take a 5-4 lead over the Braves, now going to the bottom of the 9th. Carlos Zambrano hit a 3-run homer against Houston. Oh, and he's no-hitting them through 7 innings as well.

Who looked good or bad at the plate is hard to quantify. Exactly. I don't know where he fits in -- seeing as he had no hits for the Mets -- but Braden Looper was a pretty good hitter, IIRC.
  13. Great job on the KTE. Not sure where the trade tracker thread is but Hamulack's great April was overshadowed by a terrible May before being sent down. Even with Duaner being shaky at times recently, still looks like the Mets are winning the trade...

He will be starting on three, rather than the normal four days' rest. Why?!?!?! Rain and the doubleheader. Using John Maine requires a roster move, which would be sending Heath Bell back down at a time when the 'pen is already a bit overworked. (No, they're not going to release Matsui). Other option is Darren Oliver.
  15. Milledge 3 Wright 2.75 Trachsel 2.5 Valentin 1 Wagner .5 Bradford .25 I think Bradford gets the biggest shaft here but the points can't go to everyone.
  16. Terrible game. SC = very low.
  17. Alright, rally time! Wright, Valentin and Chavez. Just like the 10th. OE: Actually, Delgado first.

  19. Shitfuck.
  20. Nah, go after Feliz, that's why we brought the righty in.
  21. Shit. C'mon double-play / strikeout.
  22. Edgy DC wrote: I guess I'm wrong, but I think that's like the first run the Mets have scored off of Benitez in... ever. I distinctly remember attending an eerily similar game during Benitez' first year with the Marlins. Might've been his first trip back to Shea. The Marlins got the insurance run in the top of the 9th. Piazza took Benitez deep but we were still 1 run short and lost. OE: Some very useful "Mets Database" type site tells me it was June 5, 2004.
  23. OHHHHHHHHHHH SWEEEEEET REDEMPTION!!!!
