  1. Beltran walks to put the tying run on first. Old Man River (rather than LoDuca) hitting for the pitcher.
  2. After the Giants retire something like 10 in a row, Benitez walks Jose Valentin to start the 9th. Castro strikes out. Beltran -- clearly, he's available -- pinch-hits for Milledge.
  3. They should eject fans for tying to grab balls in play. (A fan was trying to grab the ball rolling down the line that Cliff was trying to pick up.)
  4. Lineup change for the Mets: Mets Reyes SS Chavez CF Delgado 1B Wright 3B Floyd LF Valentin 2B Castro C Milledge RF Hernandez P
  5. Giants Randy Winn RF Omar VIzquel SS Steve Finley CF Barry Bonds LF Ray Durham 2B Lance Niekro 1B Pedro Feliz 3B Eliezer Alfonzo C Matt Cain P It was very strange to see "E. Alfonzo C" in the lineup.
  6. Thanks for the link. Listened to about half of it so far --- which one is you?

The Mets clubhouse is one of the more diverse in baseball, a place where a Puerto Rican and a Mississippian bond in the bullpen, where a country boy left-hander has a locker between an oenophile from California and a golf nut from Massachusetts, where half the roster is Hispanic. But until Milledge arrived, there were only two African-American players Floyd and reliever Darren Oliver and Floyd said he expected Milledge to gravitate toward him because of their shared background. This was the first I heard that Bradford and Feliciano were friends. That's cool.

Basically a Lets Go Mets/Lets Go Yankees chant would go simultaniously and the HOO would drown out the EES in Lets Go Yankees. At first I thought it was "Lets Go Mets WHO!" I had always thought it was "Let's-Go-Mets!-Huh!" It has definetly devolved into "Let's-Go-Mets!-Hoo!" which is moronic. Especially when there are many who only do the "hoo!" part of the chant. Yes, Yancy there are still some spontaneous chants that get going. Last summer was particularly good at times in getting the Let's Go Mets going without the scoreboard cues.
  9. Excellent! Many thanks.

Here's ESPN's portal with multiple angles: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page3/story?page=atbatsongs/index I don't know if "flogged" is exactly the right way to describe it. Woefully incomplete perhaps. Regardless, very few of those players are even with the club anymore...perhaps only Kaz is even using the same song (??)
  11. I've always wanted to come up with a definitive list, but it's not always easy. Knowing all the music fans here, I'm hopeful we can get something compiled. Sure, everybody knows about Mr. Wagner...but what about the rest of your 2006 New York Mets? Contributions solicited. This works for those playing along at home via Television and Radio too, as the songs can often be heard on the broadcasts... There will be a prize for anyone who can tell me what song Carlos Beltran uses. Starters Tom Glavine - Sweet Child O'Mine, Guns N Roses Relievers Aaron Heilman - London Calling, The Clash Billy Wagner - Enter Sandman, Metallica C Paul LoDuca - Stayin' Alive, Bee Gees, Boogie Shoes, KC & The Sunshine Band, Shining Star, Earth, Wind & Fire IF David Wright - several, including Brass Monkey, The Beastie Boys OF Cliff Floyd - Everyday I'm Hustlin' - Rick Ross Xavier Nady - X, Xzibit Bench Julio Franco - People Get Ready, Crystal Lewis Chris Woodward - Sultans of Swing, Dire Straits, Money for Nothing, Dire Straits

  13. Martinez 4.92 Sanchez 1.85 Wagner 1.23 Valentin 1.25 Chavez .75 My thoughts exactly Yancy. (I decided to give equal weight to each inning pitched).
  14. 10th game won in last at-bat this year.
  15. PUT IT IN THE BOOKS!
  16. Alright, same effect. Endy Chavez as hero seems about right, especially with some good PH appearances the past 2 games.
  17. Hmm, strange. Figured he'd bunt and try for the "any ball to the OF wins it."
  18. Glavine to pinch-hit?
  19. And then they pinch hit for him. Dammit. Just got home...wow, what a game!
  20. Maybe the Glavine factor would helpful too? If the cost wasn't too high, sure, why not? If he doesn't retire, he'd probably sign with the Cubs again next year anyway.

I think a restriction on such things would be will within the Mets' rights, depending of course on the contracts and the like. Personally, I think it'd be sensible too. what if the cross is made out of rubber, or styrofoam, or play-doh? Well, then it's not probably not a hazard. Seriously, my only objection is that I don't want him getting hurt.

  23. metirish wrote: WTF kinda deal did he get, I'm reading $22 million but it gets confusing after that, explain please. It's a $22 Million major league, full-season contract. That's what he'd get if he was on the roster for the whole season. He only gets a percentage of that $22 million -- the same percentage of the season that he's on the Astros' 25-man roster. It'll be approximately $12.6 million. He's being paid according to a minor league contract until he reaches the majors.
  24. Oliver 3 Floyd 1 Beltran 1
  25. Bannister to 60-day DL. (He's eligible to come off June 26).
