  1. Perez 5 Heilman 2 Wright 2 Delgado 1
  2. Wow. Victorino doubled off first to end the game.
  3. AG/DC wrote: Excellent ending. People who stinko: Boobirds All youse who went out on Friday night and missed this. What about those of us who went out to the game? It was fantastic. Aaron heard it when he came in but everybody shut up pretty quickly. David really looked as if he was swinging 100% for the fences in the first. But then he succeeded! I thought Delgado's hit would be caught but that Beltran's would go out.
  4. Who's closing games now that they traded Marte?
  5. Pittsburgh takes the lead in the 12th, now 2-0.
  6. I think Victor is playing for Tacoma, the AAA affiliate of the Mariners, this year.
  7. A week ago, we dropped 2 of 3 in Florida; we go against the same 3 Marlins pitchers this series. Since we last saw them, the Marlins split 4 at home with the Rockies and took 2 of 3 in Philadelphia. Tonight: Ricky Nolasco ® vs. Perez. Last time we saw him, Nolasco gave up 2 runs and 7 hits, 0 walks and 8 Ks in 6 innings. We lost -- it was the game that Maine left injured. Nolaso's last outing was against the Rockies; he struck out 13 in 8 innings, 0 walks, 4 hits, 3 ER -- and only 93 pitches. Perez out pitched Scott Olsen when we faced the Marlins last. Saturday: Scott Olsen (L) v. Brian Stokes We beat the Marlins when Olsen started against us, but Olsen pitched ok - 5.2 IP, 6H, 2 R, 5 K (we got to their pen). Olsen threw 6 shutout innings (1 hit allowed) against the Rockies in his last outing. Sunday: Josh Johnson ® v. Pelfrey Rematch from our last series. Johnson won:8H, 2BB and 4 ER in 6.2 IP. Pelfrey left after 4 IP, giving up 5 ER and 8 hits. Marlins Injuries: Marlins catcher and husband of Beach Volleyball Olympian Misty May has a sore hip.
  8. Didn't realize he ever had that good of a year for the Marlins.
  9. HahnSolo wrote: No one with my surname has played for the Mets. The most famous MLBer with my last name had 40+ save seasons in both the AL and NL in the 90s. One MLBer with my last name as his first name had a famous lost no-hitter. The saves thing is actually a good trivia question. No one named Wetteland had a famous lost no-hitter. Randy Myers also doesn't work.
  10. I voted for Heilman. I still believe in him as a viable closer option.
  11. 7 pitch 5th inning is good, however.
  12. The San Diego Union Tribute is reporting that the Red Sox put a waiver claim in for Brian Giles, who's not in the lineup today.
  13. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I think Wright had too many Molly Beers before this series. My better half has been advancing this theory for the past two weeks plus, convinced it is the cause of his recent struggles. I'm significantly less skeptical of this theory than I was just a few days ago.
  14. Martinez 2.5 Murphy 2 Schoeneweis 1 Schneider 1 Feliciano .5
  15. I really thought they would come back tonight. --- Took my folks to what'll probably be their last game at Shea. My father is a Tigers fan and my mother rooted for the Royals some, but they moved to New York before having kids. Shea plays a large in my baseball upbringing: they of course took me to my first game there, and we'd continue to go at least once a year (sometimes more often). After about age 7, my dad suggested that I could just skip having a birthday party and instead take a couple of my friends to Shea with us to see a game, a tradition that continued for several years and fostered a deep friendship (and mutual love of the Mets) with one of my best friends. At Shea, my dad taught me what to watch for at the game and how to appreciate the intracices of the matchups. He's the one who taught me how to get bargains from the scalpers (back in the crappy years) and how to keep score (something I still do at almost every game). Looking back, I can't help but be grateful as to how well they raised me: they kept me from being a Yankees fan; they took me to the games from an early age, and taught me how to really love and apprecate it. Was nice to get one more in at Shea with them.
  16. I like it.
  17. Tatis 4 Pelfrey 3 Feliciano 1.25 Murphy .5 Beltran .5 Schoenweis .25 Smith .25 Evans .25
  18. Wasn't Bart Hubbauch the moron behind the Post story about Jerry's manure quote?

    Met Count

Wait, I think we skipped a number again. A. Reyes was 839.
  20. Crowd was booing Heilman before he ever threw a pitch. Not good. I can of course understand the boos after the homers but the caustic atmosphere is making me really see just how stupid so many of the fans are. Tatis got a curtain call (some might say it was just a pinch too long in length) after his second home run. First Shea curtain call since Maine's homer last summer. I can deal with Murphy getting hung up at third (it happens, he's a rookie, etc.) but David also getting thrown out on the basepath that inning was inexcusable.
  21. Apparently Perez will go Friday and the TBA starter (which then could be Niese) will go Saturday.
  22. Check out the link, TMF. They'll be offering it to plan holders starting on Monday, 8/18. You won't get your actual seats but it appears you can at least choose the color you want. I should add that it's very much like the Mets to say they have "no information" only to be contradicted by their own website.
  23. Looks like the sale will be open to everybody (with priority to season ticket holders): http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/nym/ballpark/save_a_piece.jsp

    Ruddy Lugo

AG/DC wrote: Ruddy Lugo... ... is the brother of Julio Lugo who plays with the Sawx, and allegedly beat his wife in the parking lot in Houston. Who was the assaulter? I remember it as Julio but I think you left it open/ambiguous...
