  1. Adrian Gonzalez looking mighty good as my pick for MVP.

  3. They cannot in good conscience end in a tie. Hopefully this will finally put an end to the "everybody gets in the game" and we can actually have the starters all play at least 7 innings, and pitchers go 2-3 innings each.
  4. FUCKING UGGLA. Dammit.
  5. There's still a chance for Wright to get a game-winning hit. I guess they keep Rivera in due to their 'pen getting short. Joe Buck crowing about "the arms" still around in the AL pen. They've got Kazmir, plus Joaqim Soria and George Sherrill. Pardon me if I don't rank those closers with Papelbon and Rodriguez.
  6. ...for Rivera to get beat.
  7. I don't think Webb is available for the NL. Everybody else should be, though.
  8. Buck keeps crowing about how the AL has used their whole bench...isn't Longoria still on the bench?
  9. 1: National League 2: Adrian Gonzalez 3: Ednison Volquez 4: Justin Duchscherer 5: Lance Berkman 6: Ichiro Suzkuki 7: No errors 8: Adrian Gonzalez 9: NL: 3 8 0 AL: 1 6 0 10: Wright: 1 AB, 0 R, 1 H, 0 RBI 11: Wagner: 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 0 HR
  10. No pictures, but the Cubs one is outside the Stock Exchange; the Padres one is at Union Square North and Broadway.
  11. soupcan wrote: ="Valadius"]What are they going to do with these things after the All-Star Game? I'm guessing they'll auction them off for absurd amounts of money. Indeed. Starting at $5000 each I believe.
  12. Hurdle's passing over of Wright wasn't necessarily his fault: Fans voted Larry in. Players voted Aramis Ramirez in. He put Wright on the "Final man" ballot and then gave him the first spot vacated by injury. I don't think he should feel snubbed by Hurdle. Also, what makes you think Hamels is unavailable to throw an inning? Wouldn't Tuesday be a throw day after pitching on Sunday?

    Interim

No, not yet. They make the playoffs, he gets a 2 year extension and the "interim" tag excised. They don't, all bets are still off.
  14. Pelfrey 5.5 Beltran 2.5 Delgado 1 Evans .5 Reyes .5
  15. Listened to the WFAN broadcast for most of the game while coming home on the LIRR. I could definitely detect a true excitement in Howie's voice, talking about how Delgado's homer reminded him of Strawberry, or how the last 9-game winning streak for the Mets was in 2000 -- the last year the Mets won the pennant, of course. As referenced by Edgy, he had a great story about Jane Jarvis playing her entire repertoire (including Christmas songs) during the in-game blackout that happened 31 years ago tonight.
  16. Muniz 2 Schneider 2 Martinez 1 Wagner 1 Heilman 1 Schoeneweis 1 Reyes 1 Tatis 1
  17. Another solid win. The Rockies are a truly awful team. Not mentioned here: Jerry and Ray Ramirez were out for a visit with Pedro in the 3rd but they went back to the dugout quickly. Robinson Cancel now wearing #40. Big crowd. Was delayed getting to the game (arrived in 2nd inning) and the line was still several people deep at each ticket window to buy tickets.
  18. Tatis 3.5 Wright 1 Muniz 1 Schoeneweis 1 Reyes 1 Beltran 1 Sanchez .5 Wagner .5 Schneider .5
  19. Perez 2.5 Easley 2.5 Heilman 1.25 Wagner 1 Reyes 1.5 Feliciano .75 Sanchez .5
  20. Woulda liked the offense to show up today, but it was Cook, who's a pretty good pitcher. Liked to see Jerry playing for the win with Evans pinch running, but if he wanted to bunt there anyway, why not Santana instead of burning Argenis Reyes? Fun times are back at Shea.
  21. Marc Anthony. Was at Shea Wednesday? Tuesday? (one of the games this week) and shown on SNY. Ron Darling confirmed him as a Mets fan (and friend of Carlos Beltran).
  22. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Actually, our pitchers typically don't do well in these things. I remember Leiter getting lit up one year, Wags last year. Heck, it's probably been bad since Doc wiffed the side in 1984 or '85. Didn't Bobby Jones go 1-2-3 (whiffing Griffey and McGwire) in '96 or '97?
