  1. I think he (unfortunately) lasts the season but does not return for 2011. I'll say they fire him October 5.
  2. Adding to the Coghlan info: http://www.twitter.com/cogz4christ --- When we last saw him, rookie first baseman Gaby Sanchez was batting 8th. He's now been moved up to the 2 hole, with a respectable .345 OBP. According to Wikipedia, he is married to Miami Herald sports reporter Judy Erwin and likes to skydive in the offseason.* *You'd think this would be pretty high on the list of activities prohibited in his contract, no?
  3. Grady Sizemore is more than compelling, but that asterisk means there's a club option for 2012.

  5. The clubhouse is a nice touch -- many ballpark tours don't offer that. Of course the flip-side is that they can only offer the tours when the team is on the road.
  6. The problem with microfracture surgery is that if it's what Beltran truly needs, AND we want him available for 2011, he needs that NOW. Or within the next two months. --- One factor that I haven't seen mentioned too much is that Beltran's contract is up following the 2011 season. A healthy Beltran -- who'll be 35 in April 2012 -- stands to be able to get one final big contact in the 2011-12 offseason, and I can't believe Carlos and Scott Boras haven't considered this, knowing that he'll have to be on the field and producing in 2011 if he wants more bucks that offseason.
  7. How about you stop lying, Charlie, and then we can start taking you seriously. He's not watching the Philly catcher in the top of the inning, douchebag.
  8. Sometime last year during a broadcast, following a Chase Utley home run to RF near the pole (it was either his second or third to that part of the ballpark that year), Gary Cohen referred to that area as "Utley's Corner." I haven't forgiven him for that. G-Fafif's reference to Pelfrey getting "Utleyed" is because Bernadina's homer was to that same area.
  9. Yabbbut, it was 3-1 and he had just thrown 3 out of the zone. Taking would've been a good thing to do there.
  10. Sac Fly ties it on what Gameday suggests could've been ball 4.
  11. Yeah, Mike only got 1 RBI though. Time to pile on now.
  12. After going 2-0, they go to the IBB and load them up for Pelfrey.
  13. Yeah. That's why we needed the DP. Or perhaps why Pelfrey shouldn't be walking players who are hitting .189.
  14. Big K for the first out. Now a DP please?
  15. For what it's worth, I think that was Mike Herbst who "caught" Ike there.

  17. It's not when done correctly. The phone and binoculars are what got them the warning. Apparently in 2001 baseball sent a memo to all teams prohibiting the use of "electronic equipment" when communicating with "on-field personnel."
  18. Link is Here. Article wrote: Major League Baseball issued a warning to the Phillies on Tuesday concerning accusations that bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was stealing signs during Monday nights game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. "We have looked at the video and talked to the Phillies about the actions of their bullpen coach, a Major League Baseball official told FOXSports.com. "We found the evidence inconclusive on what was being done, but we have spoken to the Phillies about the situation, and the umpires have been told to be on full alert as to what is going on. The Rockies are the second team that's filed a complaint about the Phillies, according to a source close to the situation. It's believed the New York Mets made a similar accusation after the Phillies knocked around Mets left-hander Johan Santana on May 2. The incident in Colorado was brought to light during the telecast of the Rockies-Phillies game on Monday night by FSN Rocky Mountain, which showed that with the Phillies hitting in the top of the second inning, Philadelphia bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was using binoculars to look in at Rockies catcher Miguel Olivo. The video also showed Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino in the dugout on the bullpen phone. The Phillies claimed that Billmeyer was evaluating the Philadelphia catcher, according to a source, although the evidence wouldn't support that claim; Billmeyer was using the binoculars during the top of the second hitting, when the Phillies were hitting which means Miguel Olivo of the Rockies was the catcher.
  19. Edgy DC wrote: The team nonetheless won a game without using Feliciano or Nieve. It probably isn't the first time this has happened this year, but it sure feels like it. Wins without Nieve or Feliciano: April 25 vs. ATL (5 inning rain-shortened win) April 27 vs. LAD (game 2 of DH; they both pitched game 1) April 30 vs. PHI (9-1 drubbing) and last night. That's it.
