  1. There's no stopping us (no stopping us) No one does it better! For one day, anyway.
  2. We weren't BREAKIN' in the ninth though -- put it in the books!
  3. The footage of the car whisking Rodriguez from Citi Field to court looked like an outtake from one of Wright's Lincoln commercials.
  4. One duo we don't want to see in the ninth inning.
  5. This would be a good time to get Ollie some work.

  7. For other teams these are insurance runs. For the Mets these are bail bond runs.
  8. Frenchy would make the perp walk smiling, and be a great influence on the jailhouse.
  9. Darling just called Santana "the best athlete on the field," which goes counter to "pitchers aren't athletes!"
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Kevin: The team feels like it's kinda on the brink of falling apart. That was actually an answer from Francoeur to Kevin's leading question about the clubhouse. Unmentioned: "The team would come together if I was playing every day."

It doesn't change anything other than effect the charge. If he comes back, Rodriguez will have to reconsider his pass list. Calling him "K-Rod" in the "news" reports, if that's what one wants to call anything relayed by Chris Carlin, lent an additional air of surreality to this. I think you drop the nickname when it comes down to charges of third-degree assault.
  12. Do we know anything about the family dynamic between Rodriguez and his father-in-law? All temper, usage and contract issues aside, how do we know how much or how little this guy provoked his son-in-law? Could have been hothead vs. hothead building up over the years with accumulated baggage. Or it could have been the pitcher being, as described above, a sociopath. The phrase "family room" put me in mind of the Carl Everetts and their kids, too, but this isn't kids. These were two adults. It's irresponsible that Rodriguez would take it that far, but sometimes it takes two to tangle.
  13. Jeff Francoeur would have a hard time starting for the Jaspers.

  16. Cam I Am goes 4-for-8 with a pair of RBI in his past two games to raise his average to a crisp .320

    I Give Up

Held out as long as I could. I'm all in on all out. Fifty one games for gits and shiggles, as it were, and that's better than not having fifty one games of Mets baseball. I'll go, I'll watch, I'l listen, I'll keep on keepin' on. But my towel has been thrown in. Can't beat either of your must-beat rivals a series in their ballpark; can't win two in a row for seven weeks...no. Not happening. Thanks for the brief spurt, 2010 Mets. Thanks for that afternoon in June (after your last two-game winning streak) when you were in first. Thanks for showing us these kids and making us think, legitimately, that there might be something there for next year and beyond. Thanks, but no thanks.
  19. Santana 4.5 Rodriguez 2.0 Francoeur 2.0 Tejada 1.0 Davis 0.5
  20. Wright steals first bag since the Fourth of July. Perez stealing money every day.
  21. Great diving catch as an emergency first baseman in the 20-inning game. The cult of Alex Cora as team leader, exemplified here by Ben Shpigel. That he did a Fox in-game interview during the Subway Series and later delivered a pinch-hit RBI so McCarver and Buck could revel in his leaderness. Generally forgetting he was on the roster.
  22. Niese 4.0 Hessman 2.0 Thole 1.0 Reyes 1.0 Francoeur 1.0 Pagan 0.5
