  1. So much LET'S GO METS!!!!!! coursing through my veins right now.
  2. Acquaintance of mine who used to work for MLB said nothing's official until league issues times, probably tomorrow, possibly Saturday.
  3. You might've seen Jerry Seinfeld on with Gary and Keith last Saturday night, but did you hear him with Howie and Wayne Randazzo? A good inning's work here.
  4. MLBS, comedian and partial owner Bill Maher discusses his Mets fandom with Pete McCarthy on WOR. Maher is very earnest and enthusiastic here, knowing what he's talking about (more or less). BTW, McCarthy is a terrific sports talk host, coming on an hour before Mets games (leading into Wayne Randazzo) and doing some post-postgame. Also hosts a three-hour show on off nights when the season is over. Sharp, reasoned, respectful...not a WFAN type at all.
  5. Magnifique job on the cards and the tallying. DeGrom 1970 is ideal. Thank you for 11 seasons of this. Way to go, Jakey!
  6. Sean, Gil and Martin are the 26th man in case of Matzless playoffs (he needs three first names to replace him). Carlos Torres has been dispatched to Port St. Lucie. Alex Torres is shopping at Lids and getting nowhere.

Did the Mets have the same rosters in the NLDS and NLCS that year? I honestly don't remember. I think it was Bubba Trammell that replaced Bell for the 2000 NLCS. Castro was the backup catcher in 2006 but never played. Royce Ring was on the roster for the division series only; was replaced by Anderson Hernandez for the LCS. Matt Franco replaced Bell.
  8. Stroh's is a Detroit native though now owned by somebody somewhere else.

Welcome back Goeddel (and Niese, who I left off earlier in an episode of passive-aggressiveness). Adam says Gilmartin or Torres will be the 11th pitcher brought along if Matz doesn't make it. Health aside, let's make our own reality. I'm really hoping Friday to compare the team we wanted with the team we get. I want to get behind whoever's gonna be there.

In fact, he can possibly be a selfish dumbass who was out partying. Out partying and he fucked up. These things aren't mutually exclusive. He could have been handcuffed to a hotel bed and couldn't get up until housekeeping cut him loose! Pretty sure "stuck in tunnel traffic" is a euphemism.
  11. Cricket at Citi Field in November? Usually it's crickets at Citi Field in October.
  12. Tommie Agee makes his feelings known at last.

  14. Lefty Specialist wrote: Keith must be pissed if he's doing the post-game show. He won't get back to Sag until 4 in the morning. He actually addressed this over the weekend. Said he'll be staying over in the city.
  15. Not sent to PSL, not invited to work out, simply told their season was over, you don't have to go home but you can't stay here: Monell, Herrera, Stauffer, Alvarez and O'Flaherty. As noted upthread, Recker, EYJ, Campbell, Verrett, Parnell are taxi-squadding in Florida. Not mentioned in any account I've seen: Carlos Torres, who's on the verge of falling off the active roster for the first time since the middle of June 2013.
  16. A year ago on the eve of the postseason, I had no idea where any Met was. This is better.
  17. Ceetar wrote: Ceetar wrote: 90-72. 1st place. I'd put in the sick day for 10/29 now if I were you. See you in downtown Manhattan. Hmm, I must have done the math wrong. It feels unlikely the Mets parade will be after only 2 WS games. The first annual "We've Got This in the Bag" Parade is a great idea.
  18. Congratulations Ceetar nailing the 90-72 record and the first-place finish. The prediction will be perfect if he's chilling on Lower Broadway a few weeks hence. metsmarathon also called 90-72, but said it would be good for a second-place finish (and an NLDS loss).
  19. Why do teams dismiss Davey Johnson? It never works out in the end.
  20. I tried a finals beard in college. It didn't help my face or my grades.
  21. I've always sort of liked Sabathia while wishing him the worst of professional luck since his brief tenure as a Brewer. Now I wish him the best of personal luck -- and of course the worst for his team.
  22. C.C. Sabathia going in for alcohol addiction treatment, out of the postseason (which we hope will be a one-game affair anyway). Best to the person inside the enormous uniform.
