  1. https://youtu.be/Gqy4mYkY_Lkhttps://youtu.be/Gqy4mYkY_Lk I'm competing for a roster spot Where there's not much room
  2. Hector Rondon has gone to Arizona to become a cold hearted...Snake. https://youtu.be/o7aShcmEkswhttps://youtu.be/o7aShcmEksw
  3. Robinson Chirinos signs with the Rangers.
  4. Steve Cishek to sell seashells by the seashore of the South Side of Lake Michigan with the White Sox.
  5. Need a bigger Pete and zero MFY.
  6. The same hateful defending world champions have signed Eric Thames, who developed the innovative "Thames on Nine" UK programming on WOR-TV in the '70s.
  7. Daniel Hudson returns for two more years of Gnatitude.
  8. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=29343 time=1578342246 user_id=68] Kick off the New Year with this (Latin American market only -- test issue)
  9. I'd prefer to think of the swoosh as a checkmark, and that it's there to raise consciousness on behalf of checklist cards, surely a worthier cause than Nike.
  10. The public ballots tend to overstate the impact of those voters who have causes. The silent majority (or perhaps plurality) who don't give a damn about Walker or can't deal with Bonds/Clemens inevitably brings the eye-popping percentages back toward earth, save for those of the first-time sure-thing types, of which Jeter is sadly among.
  11. An Ed replaces an Edgardo, and this Ed comes from the world of higher education. The new Cyclones' manager is Ed Blankmeyer, longtime head baseball coach at St. John's and an assistant coach at Seton Hall before that. There was an opening in (on?) Coney Island once the champion manager of the NY-Penn League, Edgardo Alfonzo, was let go for reasons never made explicit.
  12. John Maine wants to know where his back page pun is.
  13. Tennessee Titans confirm lack of this Tom's Terrificness.
  14. I'm technically a member of Ford-Harrelson, but over nine years of SABR membership, that's boiled down to one group e-mail acknowledging the inactivity of the chapter and asking whether anybody wanted to get it going again.
  15. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Hudson, I'm slated to be on a Mets-themed panel at the North Jersey SABR meeting at the Yogi Berra Museum, same day, assuming I can find my way there.
  16. Craig Stammen stays a Padre.
  17. Asdrubal Cabrera returns to Los Nacionales.
  18. =bmfc1 post_id=29268 time=1578109623 user_id=73] From The Post's article: [bLOCKQUOTE]Kyle Thousand, Cespedes' agent, declined comment to The Post on Friday afternoon.[/bLOCKQUOTE] That's a real name?
  19. Tabloid Cover Derby (TCDX) is up 4.7% in after-hours trading. https://twitter.com/metsbackpage1/status/1213286275148636167?s=21https://twitter.com/metsbackpage1/status/1213286275148636167?s=21
  20. Whoever had “trying to tame wild boar” wins the pot. https://nypost.com/2020/01/03/yoenis-cespedes-ankle-fractures-came-during-incident-with-wild-boar/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttonshttps://nypost.com/2020/01/03/yoenis-cespedes-ankle-fractures-came-during-incident-with-wild-boar/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons
  21. Giants sign Tyson Ross, Pacific Coast trembles.
  22. I'd have guessed Ryan Cordell formed a blue-eyed doo-wop group that still tours without its original members. But, no the Cordells don't exist. However, Ryan Cordell is a recent White Sox outfielder the Mets have signed to a minor league contract.
  23. Nats sign Starlin Castro, meaning the former Cub, MFY and Fish has never played for a team I can even vaguely tolerate.
  24. Co-star of the 1979 trade deadline. The Mets picked up Dock Ellis from Texas, Andy Hassler from Boston. It didn't change much, despite a guy working a Nassau Beach snack bar counter in Lido who saw my Superstripe Mets cap and excitedly told me that thanks to these two moves, the Mets are gonna be good in five years. Well, he was sort of right. Hassler started 8 games as a Met and saved 4. Only two Mets pitchers have been that kind of starter and closer in the same season since then: Anthony Young in 1992 and Hisanori Takahashi in 2010.
