  1. The week's recap wouldn't be complete without an "Angel Hernandez is still doing it" story: https://nypost.com/2022/04/24/kyle-schwarber-loses-it-on-angel-hernandez-after-strike-out/?fbclid=IwAR1x_t1C3FSAAPujyqOYRVk8jrvRjC4ZXR3jkXVrBDJtgIUMKKj1uaG7-_Yhttps://nypost.com/2022/04/24/kyle-schwarber-loses-it-on-angel-hernandez-after-strike-out/?fbclid=IwAR1x_t1C3FSAAPujyqOYRVk8jrvRjC4ZXR3jkXVrBDJtgIUMKKj1uaG7-_Y Later The video is great - it may be one of the worst ball-strike calls since the infamous Game 5 of the 1997 NLCS. Schwarber is instantly tossed as he slams the bat and helmet. He proceeds to show the worst umpire in MLB where he was missing calls - outside, inside, high, low - you are fucking terrible Angel!
  2. INSURANCE!
  3. WOW METS! Gallegos with some Hideki Irabu action covering 1B there
  4. have to wonder if they had any inkling of this injury when rejecting the qualifying offer? also, wouldn't you want to rehab on a team's dime in their facilities on a 2 year deal here?
  5. it is disgusting. "Stadium Security" is a joke. NYPD should be out there making arrests - we have the nationally televised video of assaults being committed on Cleveland players.
  6. I prefer the 10:10 west coast starts when the kids are in bed
  7. A seemingly overlooked piece of the replay puzzle here is that a tie goes to the runner, and as they replayed that thimg over and over from different angles there was never one that made it look like the ball in the glove beat the foot to the bag. If they got there at the same time, the tie goes to the runner and overuling the call ia correct.
  8. On the NXT network, channel 597 if you have Verizon in the NY area. I've been watching since the Mets ended. I'm fascinated by the lack of talking heads. Is this normal? Or do they just not bother with them for the American audience? Either way, just hearing the sounds of the ballpark is awesome. Oh, and there was ONE short commercial between innings and they were back out there.
  9. Not a lot of managing going on in the DH league. the front office can hand in a lineup card and let the pitching coach decide when his guys are done, no interaction with the hitting side needed
  10. SNY's feed to my computer insists i'm outside the broadcast area which is weird because its the same signal my TV gets from the same provider - i'm not on an out of town vpn or anything like that
  11. he's gotta be done right?
  12. https://twitter.com/Baseball2002fanhttps://twitter.com/Baseball2002fan maybe?
  13. Bumping this for 2022 as someone was looking
  14. Maybe the baseball got hit hard?
  15. That was a BRILLIANT move either by Showalter or JD Davis
  16. "Most important person in baseball history"? That's the narrative that's been developing about Jackie Robinson over the last 20 or so years. In fact, one of the most important people in all of American history, not just baseball history, or sports in general Good for Jackie, maybe I was wrong about Cooperstown. Wilpon can build him a Rotunda at the Smithsonian instead.
  17. "Most important person in baseball history"? Then maybe Wilpon should donate to build a rotunda for him in Cooperstown.
  18. They just showed Gary Sheffield's 500th homerun - in 2009 in a Mets uniform. I wouldnt have remembered he was ever a Met.
  19. I don't think pitch count is all that accurate either. He was fucking cruising. If a guy throws 80 pitches in 3 innings that might be a lot worse than 80 over 7. my question would be at what point is a guy "laboring"
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Edgy MD wrote: And Bartman didn't reach across the railing. That one was at least borderline. The Maier thing has been replayed a few thousand times AND NOT ONE PERSON who speaks into a sports mic for a living seems to notice that HE DID NOT CATCH THE BALL. But they all say he did because I guess that makes the story better ... it also makes it wrong-er. The embarrassing here is that Gary is in that club too. 4:04 was your final game time. Bartman I don't think reached over the imaginary line between the fans and the field and if he did it wasnt by much - Bartman's crime was aiding the opposition - Just as Brady Anderson almost certainly catches the Maier ball, Alou catches the Bartman ball if Bartman just puts his hands down the only difference between them is that Bartman aided the road team where as Maier aided the home team he was rooting for. If Bartman had been a Marlins fan visiting Chicago he could have been the most celebrated man in Florida history and maybe even had a lawsuit against the Cubs after they booted him.

  22. Fangraphs is both fun and depressing. Since 2001, the NYM Bullpen ranks: -20th in Wins -4th in Losses (ie 4th most Losses credited to a reliever in the past 20 years behind only Tampa, Colorado, and Florida)
