  1. =Fman99 post_id=91720 time=1652102066 user_id=86] The no hitter didn't ruin his career, Reed Johnson mashing his ankle on a play covering first did.
  2. Alonso says "get out of my way shorty!"
  3. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: The 4th Place Atlanta Braves visit the Apple tonight as Max Fried (2-2, 3.00) opposes Chis Bassitt (3-1, 2.25). Fixed that for you.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Jankowski does not have options. The team was forced to remove two players from the big league roster. The next best option was probably trying to sneak Trevor Williams through waivers. Even if Jankowski did have options, he is a more important piece to the roster as currently constructed than Smith/Cano who were pretty redundant with each other. Jankowski is the best defensive outfielder on the roster and the fastest runner BY FAR of the players who dont start most days. He is needed on the bench, unless you are replacing him with Kalil Lee.

How many for the StL pitcher who buzzed Nimmo earlier in the game on a pitch that was more up and more in than the one to Arenado? Zero, because just like when the NFL refs throw a flag for 'unnecessary roughness' they often caught the retaliation instead of the original offender. Come on Buck. You know what to do. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Ok9LGq_98nY/hqdefault.jpg>
  6. Nice to see Steve Cohen has told the Mets its ok to have 'sunk costs'. While I would have held out a bit longer (based on past results, not salary) this is till a good sign for how the Mets are going to run.
  7. =kcmets post_id=90949 time=1651428514 user_id=53] Hard to believe this year is the 30th anniversary for Camden Yards 'already.'
  8. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Yoan Lopez is just here for the violence He'll be in Syracuse tomorrow for sure.
  9. Smith JUST IN TIME tonight with a 'keep me on the roster' performance. Does it outweigh the momentum of 'He's Got Options' or the 'We owe that other guy 40 million'?
  10. Frayed Knot wrote: iow, MLB is saying that they don't care if it was decided that there wasn't enough to go to trial on that first case, that ain't all they're working with. well i don't anything about this second woman, all i've seen is that there is a 2nd accuser somewhere. certainly possible her story makes more sense than the first one
  11. Disagree. Assuming the allegations are proven (under the standard for MLB investigations) then the punishment makes sense. Because, assuming again the allegations have been proven, there is a total lack of contrition, as well as aggravating circumstances (eg. previous instances of poor judgment, imprudent/improper behavior on social media). I dont agree at all. This is a baseball groupie who sought him out and kept reaching out to him when he left things be after the first time. "fake ass contrition" that most people show isn't a mitigating circumstance. "aggravating circumstance" is when you abuse your spouse/live-in-gf/other woman who is reliant on you, or lives with you, or has a kid with you like Jose Reyes (who some of you still love) - someone who can't easily get away and certainly wasn't seeking more
  12. Even if you believe the allegations Bauer is not the worst offender MLB has punished and yet he is getting BY FAR the biggest punishment ever. This smells of Manfred thinking some combination of "I want to set an example of a player and it just happens to be you!" and "How dare you not reach a settlement with ME the great and powerful commissioner! FEEL MY POWER!"
  13. Do they still even use penicillin these days? I'm supposedly allergic to it and have no memory of how or why I was told that at a very young age. Same. I tried climbing a phone pole when I was six, got a huge splinter under my middle finger (still have the scar) so I saw the doctor, supposedly, and got a penicillin shot that gave me a bad reaction, and I've been telling people for the past half-century "Penicillin" when they as about allergies, though I don't remember any of this, just a story (and as scar) I've been told about. "What was the bad reaction, exactly?" "I was six, and out of my kug with fever, probably, how the hell would I know?" Same thing here. Allergic to "Ceclor" and have no memory of having it as a kid.
  14. Not sure I agree on the football thing. What could be MORE "macho" than 4th and 1 lining up and saying "we are bigger and stronger than you and running this shit down your throat"
  15. He'll finish 4th in the CY Young voting and make everyone care a lot less when deGrom doesn't pitch all year.
  16. I can't imagine he would be back on PEDs at this point. He has to realize that the money he is currently owed by the Mets is more than he'd earn himself - given his age and suspension history - even if he were to have a good PED-induced season. His best move this point is to ensure he gets paid in full on his current contract, which means staying clean.
  17. X-Rays negative on JD Davis' foot, but putting him on the 10 day DL anyway could solve the roster crunch for a week while the Mets figure out what they want to do.
  18. This is disappointing but hey, at least it's a day game where I'm busy working amd barely paying attention to the mayhem!

  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Bassitt really slowed down in his last inning. Plus there were the HbPs, with the accompanying staredowns, medical checkups, and pitchers circling the mound trying to gather themselves. iow, a typical MLB game in the 21st century with a running time [3:32] which is becoming all too typical [nearly 1 game in 7 this season has run north of 3:30 -- 9-inning games only] And this one had all of 3 runs and 11 hits combined. Bassitt came out today and complained about the ball this year being inconsistent and responsible for the rash of HBPs
  21. A Court has just ordered the unsealing of MLB's letter to the MFYS concerning sign stealing. It seems they might have been guilty of some of their own, while crying :foul" at Houston. https://www.audacy.com/971theticket/sports/judge-orders-mlbs-sign-stealing-letter-to-yankees-unsealed?fbclid=IwAR3jtbqW5DQg-_MFE-rKG7vUQ4ZfFh7YiPJipEobSwWgLiAzbIlWarJdD-khttps://www.audacy.com/971theticket/sports/judge-orders-mlbs-sign-stealing-letter-to-yankees-unsealed?fbclid=IwAR3jtbqW5DQg-_MFE-rKG7vUQ4ZfFh7YiPJipEobSwWgLiAzbIlWarJdD-k This could get interesting. Later The Yankees letter confirmed what we knew - the Yankees are cheating bastards. They are also tattle-tales. Manfred's letter was great, like a parent talking to a child who did something wrong and tried to blame their siblings. 'Dear Brian - you tried ratting on the Red Sox. That is between me and them. Now lets talk about what YOU did'
  22. Cano hadn't played in over a year - a longer period to see if he has anything left seems warranted to me particularly as neither of them is hitting and if you cut Cano he is gone whereas if you demote Smith he can be back in 2 weeks if you then decide you've seen enough of Cano or a roster spot opens through injury.
  23. Barring injuries, I think the clear move is to send down Smith and preserve all the assets. Any other move means losing simeone from the organization that we dont want to lose. This roster, once cut to 26, doesnt really have room for Smith and Cano. This comes down to who has options.
  24. Sounds like he can workout but still cant throw?
  25. Bauer is now suing the woman. pretty standard he-said she-said stuff just like before. Biggest thing I learned from his complaint is that she was apparently not just a 'random person' but a baseball groupie - she had previously had sex with Fernando Tatis (junior i assume)
