  1. yeah, maybe somene should invite him to join the conversation around here.
  2. Quick, how many posts 'til the next level? In "honor" of being Benitez I'll recap what I remember most about his Met career: Down the stretch in 2001, the mets are putting together an improbable run at the division until Armando blows 2 saves against the division-leading Braves within a week in September. the Mets eventually end up 6 games out. 2000 NLDS game 2, Armando coughs up the lead with a 3-run bomb in the ninth to JT Snow, gets the W by deafult when the Mets win it in the 10th. 2000 WS Benitez blows it in the 9th long before trhe yanks win it in the 11th
  3. theres always a gray area thats hard to deal with. i think this one is just on the "ok" side of the line but i'm sure others will differ. 1. its about baseball 2. though it is personal its not an attempt to sell anything 3. he's an occassaional contributor not a 1st post advertiser and 4. he's just not rude about pushing his show (i can think of others who have come on here and tried to act like god and pretend they have secret sources and stuff.) if this had been "hey heres my mets jersey ebay auction" from msilva i'd want it moved, but then again that same post from yancey would imo be acceptable given his level of contributions, so its not usually going to be clear whats ok andwhats not, just zap things that become a problem.
  4. the bullpen provides a heart attack, but wagner shuts the door! 4-2 mets win and we're on a legit winning streak!
  5. Heilman saves the day.
  6. Feliciano loads the bases and on comes heilman...
  7. Utley homers off Shitweis, but the Mets still lead by 3 thanks to the Reyes HR
  8. Bruntlett works out a 14-pitch walk and that'll end Perez's day. 5 2/3 no runs so far but responsible for the runners on 1st and 2nd with Rollins coming to the plate as a pinch hitter, he'll hit for Jamie Moyer who is also done for the day, and will face Duaner Sanchez.
  9. Perez gets Howard to fly out wit the tying runs on base to end the 5th. still 2-0 mets. where is everyone?
  10. It takes a diving catch by Werth to keep Wright from getting on base for the 9th straight plate appearence

I don't want to see any baseball player suffer an injury that will affect the rest of their life or anything, but one that keeps an opposing player out of the game for a few months and then heals fine? i'm ok with those and lots of them.
  12. ]Okay, if you want a larger sample space, then how about a career 8.10 ERA against the Phils over 36.2 ip. how many of those guys are still on the phillies? its like the dumb stats that "chipper owns the mets" or "burrell is a met killer" of what possible use are those numbers against Santana, Maine, Perez, etc who werent here for all of that?
  13. i echo nelson's sentiment. HA HA.

Grote15 wrote: Nice to see the Rays step up...Lotta those style contracts out Wright..Reyes..Sizemore..Cano, Mauer..etc. the longoria contract is nothing like those, those players all proved that they were major leaguers before they got deals (maybe not cano, i dont remember when they signed him) longoria has yet to prove anything, this could be another Drew Henson contract.
  15. A guy who has had an ERA between 3.03 and 3.62 and a whip between 1.07 and 1.16 each of the last 3 years has been "awful for years"??? Heilman has been awful now for about 2 weeks (the length of this season), lets cut him some slack based on past performances
  16. Howard has looked brutal wit the glove alot in his young career, but the Phillies, on account of not playing in the bullshit league, can't hide him at his true "position."
  17. FUCKIN HEILMAN.
  18. Willets Point wrote: ="Nymr83"]Santana males the last out, i like that he was left in. I liked it too, but it doesn't seem to be working out so far. Maybe if he had femaled the last out it would be different. LOL, i won't edit that typo now...
  19. Like Hamels, Santana gets pulled after 7+ innings with runners on.
  20. Santana males the last out, i like that he was left in.
  21. someone missed a sign, pagan coming home as if it was a squeeze and castillo fouls it off.
  22. schneider makes it all moot as he drives another one in. castillo up, if he doesnt hit into a DP to end it i'd still leave santana in here after blowing the whole bullpen last night
  23. Pagan doubles home another run, i'm a bit suprised that they didn't walk the righty pagan to face the lefty schneider with the bases loaded considering Romero's dominance vs. lefties. even if schneider only make 1 out they've then put the mets in a situation to get santana out of the game which benefits the phils as he has been unhittable
  24. Delgado hits it hard to Howard, that could have been an out at home or a 3-6-3 DP but he bobbles it and their only play is at first. 3-1 mets 2nd and 3rd 1 out.
  25. Hamels suddenly loses it and the bases are loaded with nobody out, Romero coming on to face Delgado.
