The Mets starting CF, 3B, SS, and 1B are away at the WBC, what do you think they are going to throw out there?

I loved Sanchez when they got him and kept hoping he could recover, best of luck wherever he catches on.

thats fair enough, it just seemed a little unusual to me that they wouldnt wait and see right before the decision actually had to be made, but they're the ones down in camp not me so i guess maybe they see something in his command or especially velocity that just tells them he will never get back to where he was

Or does the decision need to be made now? From a roster perspective it obviously needs to be made by April 5th (opening day). From a financial perspective, March 18th was the cutoff to pay him less. ]Kudos to cutting him now, give them 3-4 weeks to determine who to give his slot to. They could make that decision even with him still here, except that he'd still be in the running and he'd be around if his potential replacements suffered sudden injuries. The netherlands is 9 outs from advancing to round 2! (only up 1 run though) that would set up a Dominican Republic vs. Puerto Rico game where the loser goes home.

a reasonable argument IF they planned on starting him again tonight, he didnt start tonight's game against canada (though they lead 4-2 anyway.) but why yank a guy when he's throwing a shutout, he was throwing 11 pitches an inning and could easily have gone 2 more innings (he would have needed to do so in 25 pitches) before they pulled him, and they lost that game after he game out.

go in with a list and a strategy. how many of the other players are new to auction leagues? new players have a universal tendency to overspend early in the draft, leaving cheap bargains on the good (but not the great) players in the middle of the draft. if there are no other new players there than just make sure you don't do that. if there are lots of new players, take advantage, save your money early. if you make your list properly then all $4800 will be accounted for, every time someone spends an extra $3 on Ramirez or Wright thats value to be had later on for someone who saved their money (when a player like Delgado, who you value at $11, goes for only $9.50) fone piece of advice that is specific to 12 team mixed leagues: there are plenty of closers out there, 2.5 per team. don't wste your money on the F-Rods, Riveras, and Nathans. figure out who will be closing in Pittsburgh, Florida, etc and get them for less than half the price that the big guns go for. you'll want 3 closers in a league that size, but if you get 2 and then grab a couple of setup guys who are behind shaky closers you should be alright, you wont win saves but you'll be in the middle of the pack and wont have blown your budget on 1 category.

I didn't watch, why did Difelice (4 shutout innings, 3 hits, no walks) get lifted by Italy after the 4th inning with only 45 pitches thrown? the guy was cruising and you cant even blame the pitch limits for removing him.

The Panama/Puerto Rico game right now has taken on added importance for PR, they probably thought that if they choked they could beat up on the netherlands in the next game, but DR's suprise loss means that the loser of this game will be facing the DR lineup and Johnny Cueto/Odalis Perez.

I'd consider 10 the minimum for an NL-only league, 12 is a must for mixed league and I'd really want to have 16, but we have the depth argument every year so theres no reason to have it again, whoever shows up we'll go with
