  1. Is Francoeur hearing the footsteps [jogging, not yet allowed to be running] of Carlos Beltran and trying NOT to be supplanted by Pagan when Beltran gets back? competition based on superior merit rather than who stinks less would be nice around here! Well, right now he's about .080/.120 points below those first two and he has 2 XBHs to Castillo's 3 despit the AB differential of 6-1
  2. Slappy was only hitting .241/.347/.277 himself, so i'll take my chances that Tejada can at least get to that level while providing better defense.
  3. Ruben Tejada with a nice defensive play going far to his right and making the spin/throw. I don't want Castillo back.
  4. i thought wright was out at 1st there, but i'll take the safe call and the run.
  5. adam jones with a diving catch to savea run
  6. just got home from the game, nice way to win it. why did jerry pull Pelfrey after 9? he should have kept going! also, why was Gonzalez not intentionally walked after that dumb bunt?
  7. from mets blog: Mets scout Marlin McPhail watched one outing this season is which Harvey threw 157 pitches. McPhail confessed after watching: "You tend to get a little nervous, quite frankly." I'm not Mr. Pitch Count or anything but 157 for a 20 year old kid? wow.
  8. Wright goes 1st to 2nd tagging up! ughhh Cora... can we please let Tejada play every day?
  9. minor league rehab assignment while on the DL
  10. I'm liking this Tejada kid today, smacked one off what Wayne Haggin called "the great wall of flushing" and hung in there against the takeout slide at 2nd
  11. I am equally troubled (but not really caring) about the sudden and convenient "injury" Would Boras/Perez dispute it? I'm not sure. I wouldn't be shocked AT ALL if Boras and Minay talked BEFOREHAND and decided to concoct the injury as a means of letting both sides save face on the dispute over whether or not to go down.
  12. came home from work and slept through the game! go me!

    GMJ GONE

    good riddance!!!
  14. its also not the same team, not the same opponents, and a small sample size, especially when you are talking about comparing one year to 2 months instead of looking at everything together. oh, and if it does kill homers? i'm ok with that.
  15. I dont remember there being anything "obvious" about Bay/Middlebrook at the time, and with 20/20 hindsight thats the trade you undo. I don't like the Perez signing, but i'll add an unconventional choice here: to protect the franchise's massive investment, and keep it on the field, I make Piazza the 1st baseman starting with Zeile's departure followig the '01 season. Ok, that might not be my first choice, but its at least food for thought in the "what if" machine
  16. I'm not sure if MLB has ever over-ruled a scorer to do something like that. they've change hit/error calls in the past and added RBIs, etc.
  17. ECKSEIN GUNNED OUT AT THE PLATE!!
  18. Eckstein ties it. damn fuck shit
  19. Its been time to get rid of hernandez for 15 years
  20. Chad Ochoseis wrote: It doesn't look clear that he's caught the ball yet, either. I'd really like to see a slow-motion replay. they showed one on ESPN (they cut to the game from STL/CIN in the 9th), he was OUTTT
  21. Rodriguez for 6 outs or Elmer Fudd? I'd rather bring in Rodriguez
