Wow, Gwreck gives an Edgy-like response to Edgy himself. Interesting! Anyway, I too was a little surprised last night when Byrdak didn't come in to relieve Boyer and pitch to the lefty. Was Terry asked about that on the postgame? Also, I was thinking about how Johnny Lunchbucket often laments the Mets inability to tack on runs just before Willie Harris drove in two tack-ons, which proved to be very important. Nice to see. When Frankie was pitching in the ninth, and had the bases loaded after the score had been tied, I was anticipating the worst possible outcome: a Mets loss and a Rodriguez GF (game finished). Happily, we got neither. But if it was late in the season, and Frankie was at 54 GFs, might he have been tempted to intentionally throw a wild pitch? He was in a situation where the only way he'd finish the game was if the Mets lost. Here's a potential situation where a player can be rewarded with $17.5 million (!) for intentionally throwing a game! That possibility should be a huge red flag, I'd think.
