  1. Dickey 3.75 Harris 2.5 Davis 1.5 Reyes 1.5 Murphy 0.75
  2. So, Thole gets the day game after the night game. Mildly surprising. I remember there was talk that this series might be played in San Juan. I'm beginning to seriously doubt that that's going to happen.
  3. That would only happen if you voted: Pelfrey 0 and didn't give any points to anyone else.
  4. Niese 3.5 Parnell 1 Wright 2.5 Thole 1.4 Harris 1.2 Davis 0.4
  5. Wow, Gwreck gives an Edgy-like response to Edgy himself. Interesting! Anyway, I too was a little surprised last night when Byrdak didn't come in to relieve Boyer and pitch to the lefty. Was Terry asked about that on the postgame? Also, I was thinking about how Johnny Lunchbucket often laments the Mets inability to tack on runs just before Willie Harris drove in two tack-ons, which proved to be very important. Nice to see. When Frankie was pitching in the ninth, and had the bases loaded after the score had been tied, I was anticipating the worst possible outcome: a Mets loss and a Rodriguez GF (game finished). Happily, we got neither. But if it was late in the season, and Frankie was at 54 GFs, might he have been tempted to intentionally throw a wild pitch? He was in a situation where the only way he'd finish the game was if the Mets lost. Here's a potential situation where a player can be rewarded with $17.5 million (!) for intentionally throwing a game! That possibility should be a huge red flag, I'd think.
  6. Although, the Mets did offer him arbitration.
  7. No, there's no secret. Giving Pelfrey 0.05 is essentially no different than giving him a zero. Let's say a player totals 15 points. If there were ten voters, he'd get a 1.5. If Pelfrey gets a total of 0.05 from ten voters, that would end up being a 0.005, which, with rounding, would net him .01 points. But if there were eleven voters, that 0.05 would become 0.045, which would become a zero. Whoever totals the most points in games played in April is the Player (or Pitcher or Reliever) of the Month. Results of past games and raw data is available to anyone who's interested. Just go to http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/
  8. The Second Spitter wrote: What tiebreaker does Umdb use if new two players debut in the same game on defense? Batting order? The UMDB hasn't officially tracked the sequence of Mets. Each player has a unique number, but it's not strictly tied to their chronological order. (If there was a tiebreaker, though, it would be batting order.)

  10. Beltran 1.1 Harris 1.1 Davis 0.35 Beato 1.2
  11. I agree with your number 1 and 2 picks. Not that I disagree with the others, of course
  12. Trailing by two in the 9th, Phillies get first two runners on.
  13. Astros-Phillies not postponed, at least not yet, and should be underway soon.
  14. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: I still wonder about shrimpy, though. Never seen him wearing the gear, and he supposedly pushed for the show characters-- save "Johnny Drama"-- to be diehard Yankee fans, once the issue of hitting a ballgame came up in a show script. I think I've heard that too. Maybe he pushed for his character to be a Yankee fan because he wanted to show some jerkish tendency that he feels that "E" has? Or maybe he's suddenly a long-time Mets fan because he sees a shot at being something of an insider. Who knows?
  15. Just wait... the Mets will take the field tonight wearing hot pink and lime green.
  16. Gwreck wrote: Forget that stupid Mets/Phillies shirt discussed elsewhere -- THAT (see LWFS post above) is a product that I just don't get. Who would buy (and wear) such a thing? If I was a Mets fan who owned a butcher shop, I'd wear it at work. Otherwise... no.
  17. First game on the schedule today is Houston at Philadelphia, at 1:05 p.m. As I look out my window, big fat snowflakes are falling, and the forecast is not promising, so this game may not be played. If it's postponed, the next game up is Pittsburgh at Chicago at 2:20. At 3:05, White Sox at Cleveland. 4:05: Boston at Texas. 4:10: Arizona at Colorado. Plus, six more games, including Mets at Miami, will be played tonight.
  18. Some of the cast of HBO's Entourage coming out as Mets fans in an article in the Daily News today, including Kevin Connally, who I had thought was a Yankee fan. Seems that there's an Entourage group among the bidders for the Mets minority ownership.
  19. So unless that changes, Harris will be Met number 896, and Emaus will be number 897.
  20. It translates to "Happy April Fools Day"
  21. Is that kosher to do this a day early?
  22. It's really tiresome isn't it?
  23. Brian McCann drives in Chipper Jones for the first run of 2011.
  24. Except first to be mathematically eliminated! Am I right, people?
