BULLETIN: Assuming no rainouts, Sunday's game will be the 8000th game (including regular and postseason games) in Mets history. The regular season game count is, through yesterday afternoon, 7,923.
  2. Another way to look at it is that the Mets can get to .500 by winning an average of 96 games per year for the next eleven years.
  3. Ultimate Mets Database wrote: The Mets have played 7923 regular season games. They have 3792 wins, 4123 losses, and 8 games have ended in a tie. The Mets' all-time regular season winning percentage is .479. Maybe today can be the start of a 331-game winning streak!
  4. BULLETIN: Assuming no rainouts, Sunday's game will be the 8000th game (including regular and postseason games) in Mets history. You may now resume your regular morning activities.
  5. Jason Pridie's total of 0.02 averaged down to a zero, so he does not appear among the results below.
  6. Josh Thole's 0.03 total averaged down to a zero, so he does not appear among the results.
  7. He also, we should note, recently got his 700th RBI, the second Met to do so. (Darryl Strawberry has 733.)
  8. For the record, I voted "Nutty, but it just might work..."
  9. It would be a very Davey Johnson infield.
  10. Box Niese 3 Duda 2 Carrasco 1.3
  11. Here's a 2012 infield alignment I dreamed up while driving around out West last week. The assumption is that Jose Reyes does not come back next year. How about a starting infield of Davis at first, Turner at second, Murphy at third, and Wright at shortstop?
  12. I've been away... do the Mets have any good pinch-hitters on their bench who can lead off the inning? Mike Baxter, perhaps?
  13. TransMonk wrote: Re-sign Reyes NOW! And get him a hamstring transplant!
  14. It looks like most of the games listed above are kinda low on votes, but they will close tomorrow as scheduled. If you do have votes still to cast, try to get them in today.

By mid July, he'll have 12 to 15 homers and he'll be hitting around .280, and he'll be traded for three young players, one of whom will be a top-rated prospect. Wrong on the position, good on the homers and batting average, pretty good on the trade date, a little off on the return.
  20. I really enjoyed it. Got a special kick out of the quick glimpse of the Original Human Torch.
  21. 1. Captain America: First Avenger 2. X-Men: First Class 3. Thor: First Asgardian Have not yet seen any of the others. I'll wait for Green Lantern until it comes to cable. May end up doing the same for Cowboys and Aliens. I loved Cap, and really liked X-Men. Thor wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, but was better than I feared it would be.
  22. Bay 2 Byrdak 0.5 Pagan 2 Thole 2 Turner 3.5
