  1. It seems his real value is in the innings he eats up, but I don't see how his 200 or so innings are worth the $6 million he's expected to get in 2012. If the team is going to contend, you can't be satisfied with someone who's going to give you 200 less than satisfactory innings. And if they're not going to contend, I'd rather see them get the same 200 innings from three different young players (if that's what it takes) than from one guy who's even less likely to be a Met in 2013. I think it's probably time to part ways with Pelfrey.
  2. The only Mets game ever where the starting pitchers had a total of six surname letters between them was June 11, 2004. The most letters? 25, on May 29, 1996.
  3. Voting for last Wednesday's game against the Padres will close on Tuesday morning. Schaefer POTG 8/17/11 - Mets 7, Padres 3
  4. Wild guess here: Pujols to the Cubs, Fielder to the Cardinals.
  5. Beato 1 Duda 2 Pagan 3 Parnell 1 Tejada 2
  6. We shouldn't let them leave town until they pony up the players.
  7. I can see a guy like that fitting in to the Mets roster next year as a reserve infielder, especially if Murphy somehow becomes a starter. Satin could replace Willie Harris, I'd think. (Can he play outfield in a pinch, I wonder?)
  8. Did he seem like the kind of guy who would research reasons to dislike Ron Hodges?
  9. seawolf17 wrote: Maybe HGH specifically. You'd think MLB would know of what they speak here. I guess all the other suspensions were for other things. Yeah, that seems to be it.
  10. It should look like an RSS feed. Looks good to me in IE and Firefox.
  11. 602 on deck. That's Arizona, I think.
  12. I've approved a shitload of fan memories in the last few days. A couple of references to fans being intimidated by the steep angle of the Upper Deck seats at Shea. I remember the same feeling as a kid when I first sat in the Upper Deck, and I'd still get a glimmer of that feeling as an adult, right up to my last visit to Shea in September 2008.
  13. Vivian Vance.
  14. I guess this makes Mike Jacobs a pioneer. Let's build him a rotunda!
  15. Seems rather hard to believe.
  16. Voting for Tuesday night's loss to the Padres will close on Friday morning. Schaefer POTG 08/16/2011 San Diego 6, Mets 1
  17. Nick Hundley.
  18. Acosta 0.75 Gee 3.25 Harris 1 Pagan 2 Wright 3
  19. Has Pedro Feliciano pitched for the Yankees yet?
  20. The Schaefer Mets Player of the Week for the week ending August 13, 2011 is Jason Bay with 6.40 points. 2011 PLAYER OF THE WEEK STANDINGS Jos Reyes 5 Ike Davis, Carlos Beltran 3 Jason Bay, Scott Hairston 2 Jon Niese, Mike Pelfrey, Ruben Tejada, Justin Turner, David Wright 1
  21. Only five votes so far for Monday night's win over the Padres. Voting for the game will close on Thursday morning. Schaefer PotG, 8/15/2011, Mets 5, Padres 4
