  1. As to the blue jerseys, I'm not a big fan. I think the orange lettering looks kind of awkward. I'd love for them to incorporate a blue jersey, but I'd want it to look something like this: Throw the logo on the sleeve and I'm all set. That shade of blue might be good on a road uniform, but I'd want a brighter shade on a home uniform. (Although, as I said earlier, I really prefer home uniforms to be white.)
  2. Voting for all three games played in Phoenix last weekend will close on Wednesday. Some of these games are very lightly voted, especially Sunday's, but time marches on regardless. If you want to vote for any of these games, please do so today. 4. I like the look, although I'd rather see them wear white uniforms at home.
  5. Yeah, the main thing that Pelfrey and Trachsel have in common is that they didn't pitch as well as we wanted them to. They're certainly not the only two to fit that category. For me, the decision about Pelfrey comes down to these questions: How much will he get paid next year? Is he worth that amount? Can the Mets replace him with someone better and/or cheaper? My hunch is that he won't be back next year, one way or another, but it's just a hunch, and not an especially strong one. I won't be shocked if he returns, but I think he'll be gone.
  6. Confession: I have no idea what "boudin" is.

  13. NY Daily News wrote: The latest on Ike Davis BY Andy Martino Ike Davis lives in Arizona, and had nothing better to do than join the Mets for this series. When life consists of walking on a treadmill, watching DVDs of The Wire and Breaking Bad, and wishing your ankle would heal, its nice at least to see your friends. Its up in the air, said Davis, who saw a specialist in North Carolina this week. It could heal on his own. It couldnt. That, at least, will end around Labor Day. If Davis needs surgery--which could be either a serious microfracture procedure, or a minor arthroscopic one--he needs to have it by early September, in order to be ready for spring training. He still hopes to avoid surgery, because doctors told him, Its probably never going to feel the same (if he has surgery), but it will hopefully get better. Still, if he he has to undergo the procedure, he wants to do it as soon as possible, and move his life and career out of stasis. The waiting game is kind of getting old, he said.
  14. The Schaefer Mets Player of the Week for the week ending August 6, 2011 is Scott Hairston with 4.48 points.
  15. Do you really think Duda's sister looks like an emu?
  16. She doesn't look like she's less than three.
  17. I had this prepared in case Carlos won the Schaefer POTM in July, which he nearly did. I guess I'll use it here.
  18. It seems that the Mets have largely overcome their M. Donald Grant plunge, but still haven't made up for the Casey Stengel-Wes Westrum years.
  19. The Road to .500 Graph indicates total number of games that the Mets were below .500 at the conclusion of each season.
