    Voting for all three games played against the Marlins last weekend will close on Wednesday afternoon. Schaefer POTG 4/5/13 - Marlins 7, Mets 5 Schaefer POTG 4/6/13 - Mets 7, Marlins 3 Schaefer POTG 4/7/13 - Mets 4, Marlins 3 Great participation so far this year. We had 15 votes for a losing game (Thursday against San Diego), which is a terrific number. It's nice to see so many people playing along.

    I went to two games last week. On Monday I parked near Penn Station and then took the LIRR. On Saturday I drove all the way to Queens and parked for free under the Northern Blvd. overpass. Saturday's plan turned out to be quicker and less expensive.

    Here's the first Schaefer discussion thread, from 2005 and 2006. I think this may include the "several new assholes" conversation that Willets referred to. Either way, it shows how much more lively the Schaefer process was eight years ago when this was all fresh and new.

    Sure, it's a bit insensitive, but during his lifetime Steve Irwin pretty much made himself a cartoon character, so if his death is seen as fodder for jokes, it's largely his own fault.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see that banner being held by a fan, but it's strange to see it being "endorsed" by a mascot. I wouldn't be at all surprised if an apology was forthcoming.
