  1. Voting for Tuesday night's loss in Washington will close on Friday afternoon, some time after 2 p.m. Schaefer POTG 6/4/13 - Nationals 3, Mets 2

I'd say the first few players put up respectable point totals, but mostly it was a pretty weak month, which isn't really at all surprising. Harvey nearly doubled up Jon Niese's point total. 3. I'd love to hear the story of why you named your son "Section 113".
  4. Of the 127 cards, two are not ready to go public yet. (They're active Mets players who may yet win a Schaefer POTM award, so I'm holding them back.) The 1970 Brian Stokes is mine, as is the 1971 Johan front and back. Maybe I'll post a checklist in this thread in the next day or so.
  5. Mets farmhand Cesar Puello is reportedly one of the players mixed up in this.
  6. Older UMDB "retrocards" from 1971 and 1975 that have recently had the player signature added:
  7. Zvon wrote: Four new Grimm cards.yay! I have collected 66. I fear some got buy me cuz I think you have made more than that. I recently revisited some of the earlier cards. I had some 1971 and 1975 cards without the player signatures and I've fixed that. I'm planning to post them to the UMDB on a page where you could select by player or by year. That will involve me cataloging the cards, and I'll then find out if I have more than your count of 66. I'll post the revised 1971 and 1975 cards in the "UMDB Stuff" thread.
  8. SCHAEFER METS PLAYER OF THE WEEK, 2013 Week ending April 6: John Buck, 7.21 points. Week ending April 13: Matt Harvey, 9.04 points. Week ending April 20: David Wright, 6.24 points. Week ending April 27: David Wright, 4.68 points. Week ending May 4: Ruben Tejada, 5.03 points. Week ending May 11: Matt Harvey, 5.94 points. Week ending May 18: Daniel Murphy, 10.08 points. Week ending May 25: Daniel Murphy, 6.86 points. Week ending June 1: Daniel Murphy, 5.80 points. Although his point total is lower with each successive week, it's three weeks in a row for Daniel Murphy!
  9. There is, you know, a middle ground between "everything going right" and "everything going wrong."
  10. SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, MAY 2013 The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for May 2013 is DANIEL MURPHY. This is Murph's second win; he had previously been named Player of the Month in July of 2011. His triple slashes were .317/.345/.471, with 2 homers and 12 RBI. He led the Mets in runs (16), hits (33), doubles (10), and total bases (49). The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month for May is MATT HARVEY, who is also a second-time winner, having won his first Pitcher of the Month award last month. Matt made 5 starts in May and was 1-0 with four no-decisions. In 37.2 innings, he struck out a team-leading 38 batters and walked only 5. His ERA was 2.15. The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is third-time winner BOBBY PARNELL. In 13 games in May, Bobby was 3-1 with 7 saves and a 2.08 ERA. In 13 innings he walked 6 and struck out 13. The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for May is JORDANY VALDESPIN. This is Jordany's third time as Bench Player of the Month and second time this year. His 5.05 points earned coming off the bench in May were only 0.16 ahead of Mike Baxter's 4.89. 11. I'm glad you set us straight. Here we all were foolishly thinking that Ike Davis is a lock to be the next Carlos Delgado.
  12. Meanwhile... anticipation for this afternoon's Schaefer announcement is growing. Even Amanda Bynes is tweeting about it!
  13. If Marcum has any trade value (and I emphasize the "if") then that option should get some consideration.
  14. Hefner 5 Lyon 1 Quintanilla 3 Valdespin 1
  15. Wow. Family gatherings must be kind of awkward. "Well, Larry, I had a long career, 3000 hits, and ended up in Cooperstown."
  16. I have no recollection of "Larry Yount".
  17. John Couger Lunchbucket awarded 10.5 points, and his votes were prorated as follows: Gee 4.52 Rice 0.48 Parnell 0.71 Buck 0.95 Wright 0.48 Byrd 2.38 Turner 0.24 Recker 0.24
  18. Voting for all three sorry games played over the weekend in Miami will close on Wednesday afternoon, some time after 2 p.m. This will also finish out the month of May, so look for the Players of the Month announcement as well. Schaefer PotG, 5/31/13: Stupid Fucking Marlins 5, Mets 1 Schaefer POTG, 6/1/2013: Marlins 8 Mets 1 Schaefer POTG 6/2/13 - Marlins 11, Mets 6
  19. Is there anything stopping the International League from adding two franchises? If they offer a better stadium, market, or whatever, then teams are less likely to get "stuck" with a PCL franchise that they don't want. If the International League and the Pacific Coast League are really "competitors" (and I don't know if that's true or not) then the IL should recognize that the PCL is offering a less desirable product and take advantage of that.
  20. And the winner is... Patrick Corbin of the Arizona Diamondbacks, whose name is completely unfamiliar to me.
